Ft. Hood Suspect Nidal Hasan Gets Flowers in Hospital; Sender Gets Visit from FBI

(AP/CBS)
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (CBS) A religious Christian in Florida tried to send Fort Hood massacre suspect Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan a bouquet of flowers and a note that calls him a "hero," but the man got a knock on his door from the FBI instead, according to a Florida television station.

Dan M. Ross told NBC 2 he was guided by his faith when he tried to send yellow roses to the accused shooter, who has been charged with 13 premeditated killings in the Nov. 5 attack on soldiers waiting to deploy from Fort Hood.

Twenty-nine others were wounded, including Hassan, who, doctors say, may be permanently paralyzed.

Ross ordered flowers and requested a card that read "In God's eye, and those who submit, you are a hero!" But instead of completing the $59.95 order, the owner of the Texas flower shop said he reported it to the Army base and the FBI.

Ross, a Vietnam vet, said he has kids in the military, but he wanted to reach out as a show of respect.

With a Bible close by, a declaration of his Christian beliefs and a website outlining his visits by an angel, Ross said in a television interview that he believes we should all love our enemies.

Ross said he's hopeful some kind of good can come out of the shooting at Fort Hood and hopes the incident will bring an end to the conflict between religions.

The local sheriff's office did confirm the FBI visit to Ross' home, but agents for the FBI will not comment on the visit or the investigation.

If I were the owner of Marvel?s Flowers I would have acted the same way. Can you imagine opening an email like that? Marvel's Flowers has been delivering flowers to the Killeen and Fort Hood, TX area Since 1958. The owners actions in handling this order only solidifies my faith and trust in Marvel's Florist.

As a veteran and a disabled veteran of military service, I always find it amusing to read and listen to civilians with absolutely NO military experience express their views and LACK of knowledge concerning the military. What DO you people know about anything? First, Major Hassan was not a TERROIST but a psychiatrist within the US Army. Those individuals who have now come out of the woodwork now should have reported their issues prior to this which should make anyone doubt there were any. The Mental Health Profession within the military is BROKEN and has been for a long time. Ask the military for the stats on MHP suicides, domestic abuses and other issues. Also, ask them who counsels their MHPs (Mental Health Professionals for you civilians)... the answer is no one. I know since I was one. You try carrying the burden of the trauma of countless soldiers, the spouses, children and family members on your shoulders with no one to talk to and see how well you do. This is not to excuse Major Hassan's actions nor to mitigate the damage, loss of life or injury to the innocent but perhaps, in some way it may help to explain. Civilians need to stop listening to the hyperbole of the news reporters, Congressmen and commentators who wish to spin the mental collapse of Major Hassan into a weapon to whip the American people in a fury of anger against a religion and a people, many of whom have nothing against Americans or the United States.

If nothing else, remember God, as well as Jesus prayed for the sinner as well as the righteous. Are you above God? Peace be with you now and always and may God grant you serenity...That is my prayer for those in the military as well as civilian. I also say this prayer for those who died, were injured, their families, friends and for the family/friends of Major Hassan as well as Major Hassan.

Well the rose sender wanted his fifteen minutes of fame (just like balloon boy's father) and he got it.
If I could meet Hasan I would give him a big hug, and then a bigger hug, and then an even bigger hug until he was choked to death and his windpipe crushed and his neck broken.
Nothing but love for you Hasan.
Seriously, I would love you death man.
Amen.

This guy is further proof that there are all types of nuts around us. Should we be surprised? History has shown that there are women who marry serial killers serving life sentences in prison.

What a moron. As a Christian, reaching out to sinners is commendable but he had to know that this would result in a visit by the feds. And calling Hasan a hero - he must be smoking something. OK so much for the Christian part - I don't know what he is but no true person of failth could call Hasan a hero.

In Islamic folklore the meaning of the yellow rose is a symbol of deceit, treachery, and adultery. Also, the Yellow Rose of Texas was a mark of treachery and deceit by the woman who betrayed General Santa Ana's plans of troop movement to General Sam Houston.

WastingtonDC: Six of the victims appear to be long service veterans, and could have been Homeland Defense In Depth Volunteers, had Bush 43 ordered the millions of long service veterans, active, reserve, retired and disabled, to train with their local unit, and be annually re-qualified physically and mentally, to carry their choice of side arms at all times, to serve as ever present terror tripwires. Provision of PDA?s to replace the volunteer?s cell phones, and draw a flash crowd of highly trained volunteers to any terror incident would work a miracle of defense in depth, for American interests, everywhere. Of course, a military experienced in the annual review of those millions of volunteers for service in Obama?s Homeland Defense Militia Mission, would have removed the shooter at Ft Hood, during his own annual performance reviews based on the evidence now proven to have been available, long before his attack,
The six long service victims at Ft. Hood, had they been honored with the Defense in Depth mission, and carrying their choice of side arms, openly or concealed, to protect our soft targets, would have limited the death toll at Ft. Hood, just as Israeli military people do, to the first few victims, and the murderer. Note the many attacks in Israel by terrorists with axes, bulldozers, and other large vehicles, most of which are stopped, within minutes, when one of Isreal's active, retired, or military veterans shoots the murderer down with their personal or issued arms.
While Bush 43?s handlers may have denied him access to the White Paper we presented to a staffer at a President's club meeting, who promised faithfully to get it to the CINC, perhaps some military person assigned to our present CINC will risk their career and provide him a copy of the delfmast article in the Armed Forces Journal: ?The Obama Militia Homeland Defense in Depth Mission?. Google delfmast, for a link to the article.
The article reprises the White Paper handed to the Bush 43 folks, and describes the single, legal CINC order, immune to congressional, police and bureaucrat union meddling, that will put an Obama Militia of millions of long service military people, most already being paid by the taxpayers, with high clearances, and requisite skills, on duty, as armed volunteers, everywhere in America that they work, play, pray, or travel, to serve and protect, as they have proven, by long service that they know how to do. Unlike our clueless politicians, all long service veterans work for the ?One? CINC, and will all carry out that order with the immediate effect of making American interests, everywhere, denied territory for terrorists, domestic or foreign.
Of course, the honor of the Obama Militia Mission will greatly improve active and reserve retention of the limitless thousands of our volunteers, active and reservists who simply cannot bring themselves to waste 30 drills annually and their annual active duty two weeks, in writing memos to each other, instead of working and training with their active duty commands, as Bush 43 learned during his years as a Reserve Pilot. Those retention and recruitment gains will save billions annually, forever, and provide adequate National Guard and Reserve volunteers to back up, or more accurately in today?s military, to augment, the active forces.
That single CINC order would comprise a negative cost solution to the trillion dollar costs associated with necessary defense in depth, that does not presently exist, for our millions of soft targets and the multi-billion costs associated with continuing losses of far too many fine young officers and senior enlisted who leave the active and reserve forces at the peak of their value to the military. It should appeal to the CINC, as it appeals to any taxpayer, and it certainly would honor the volunteers who have dedicated a large portion or all of their working lives to protecting and defending America. It would also, as proven by the presence of unarmed military volunteers who died in so many terror attacks, result in terminating those attacks, with less loss of life, with a single aircraft safe bullet, from the ever present volunteer?s concealed weapon, fired at close range, from behind the terrorist.

Oh, this is rich! As usual, it's Bush's fault that crazy muslim terrorists have attacked TWICE now on US soil on ObaMao's watch! You've really got to keep your sense of humor when reading this stuff.
