Palin Talks with Oprah About Katie Couric, Levi Johnston

(CBS)
Sarah Palin did not believe her 2008 interview with CBS News Anchor Katie Couric would be a defining moment in the presidential election, she tells Oprah Winfrey in an upcoming interview -- but she knew it was bad.

The McCain campaign, however, thought the interview went well, Palin tells Winfrey in an interview that will broadcast Monday.

"The campaign said, right on. Good. You're showing your independence," Palin said, according to an excerpt from the interview. "And of course I'm thinking, if you thought that was a good interview, I don't know what a bad interview is because I knew it was a bad interview."

Palin was lampooned by Saturday Night Live for the interview, which some called a "turning point" in the campaign.

The former Alaska governor also told Winfrey she'd like to tamp down the feud she has with Levi Johnston, the father of her grandson. Winfrey asked if Johnston would be attending Thanksgiving dinner with the Palins.

"It's lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing," Palin said. "Because of course you want -- he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing. And he needs that, too, Oprah. I think he needs to know that he is loved and he has the most beautiful child and this can all work out for good."

She added, "We're not really into the drama... We have other things to concentrate on."

Sarah is going to do what anyone would do. She's gonna make millions, and then laugh. Tanning in the Bahamas, private yacht, perhaps, Ferrari, opulent mansion, exquisite lifestyle...The lady Limbaugh. She'll literally be rolling in dough. Her family will be well taken care of, and she'll sit back, and laugh...

I'm so sick and tired of Sarah Palins face and voice that i will not turn on the tv. From what i heard before i tuned out, she is all sour grapes and lies about every one she has come into contact with since Mc Cain chose her as a running mate. I was listening to him before he did that, i realized quickly that i would not sleep nights if she became our vice president. I just hope this book bombs and she fades back into the Alaskan sun set quickly. I thought when the election was over that we would not have to see her any more but she is a fame and power crazed "wack job" (in the words of the Mc Cain aids )

Palin's Lies and Inaccuracies are being Chronically Highlighted before her Book's Release.

71% of Americans think Palin is unqualified to be President. Her favorability is somewhere around 30%, as an average. Rasmussen says Republicans see Sarah as one of two least favorable possible nominees for 2012. So the right wingers say she is a future President. She'll win in early primaries, if she runs. The other Repub. nominees will absolutely tear her apart for the unknowing, delusional, out to lunch statements she has made. It will be a Palin fricasee in the primaries, and folks who love her will say everybody is picking on her. Everybody else will say she got what she deserved, and should have known better. Will she run, probably not. She's in for the long haul and wants all the lovely money she can generate from her moments in the spotlight. What's for sure...she'll continue to make a complete arse of herself, say delusional and self serving things which ignore actual reality. She will be a laughing stock to a major portion of the country, and the right wing will absolutely love her for it.

The book will be a best seller for awhile. It is allready deeply discounted in price, however, even before release. She's gonna be around as a symbol of the roguish right. It's all about the soap opera. The media won't cover her because of her awareness, or wit, or brilliance[?], they'll cover her because the far right will eyeball her, and increase ratings. The media will keep it going, because they will make money. Mrs. Palin may well be destroyed, but the media will make a buck.

Blame the news media for 24 hour coverage of this egocentric dim-wit!
It sickens me that the American public are obsessed with Sarah Palin, it says a lot about the mentality of the RED states!

Wow, so many comments about whether or not McCain/Palin would be better than Obama/Biden.

I'll bet we could settle this if someone would just commission a poll or election or something similar to see who the American people prefer.

Get over it, nitwits. Your moron lost.

A message to Katie and CBS News. KATIE! You are fantastic and are loved by many! How pathetic that Sarah Palin did not/could not admit that she refused to prepare for your interview and did a bad job because of that. I watched the whole thing and you did not ask difficult questions! I could have answered them all - how could Sarah call these gotcha questions. It is ridiculous!!

PLEASE KATIE AND CBS, show the world the full videos of Sarah Palin. The parts that you left out that show the world how truly uninformed she is. You would be doing a great service to do this.

I also hope that you will ignore any nasty comments here made by her "fans." I have never seen such a group of people - they are so brainwashed and completely incapable of seeing Sarah for who she is. What they don't realize for some reason is that she is using them, taking money from them. She doesn't care about anyone but herself. And I a not a liberal yet I will be attacked by them for speaking the truth about Sarah. They never can back up their arguments with facts. Instead they always 1) call you a name; 2) call all liberals some name and 3) bring up Barack Obama and put him down. He has nothing to do with this conversation.

Sarah Palin has no class. Her book is petty and vindictive. A woman with real class would admit that it was all more difficult then she thought it would be. She would admit she should have prepared more. Instead she blames you and MAKES UP STORIES about you?? It is really sick.

Sarah Palin, the world is on to you now. STOP MAKING THINGS UP!

Whether Katie Couric as a seasoned journalist befuddled Sarah Palin and went for the kill like a cheetah bringing down a wildebeest is something that stung the Alaskan Governor at the time but it is now yesterday's news. Levi I do not think graduated elementary school and his latest behavior toward Sarah Palin confirms my estimation of him as a worm boring into her family. It will end in Levi signing hold harmless and confidentially agreements at triple damages when Ms. Palin sicks the mouthpieces on him. If you look at current polls which are only snapshots Sarah Palin would not win the Presidency in 2012 between the Democratic and Republican electorate. Add independents and undecideds and she looks much better. The Left Wing of this country is terrified of her and that is one reason 100 lawyers were dispatched to Alaska during Election 2008 to bring back the dirt. She is currently the biggest celebrity in America because she played it slow and cool. I myself will vote for her in 2012 if she runs, hopefully the visceral malaise we suffer will be somewhat lessened by then.

On the main CBSNews webpage leading to this link it reads "Oprah grills Palin...". For a second there I thought it had something to do with Oprah once again abandoning one of her diets and going Hannibal Lecter on poor Sarah.

It's really sad that a lot of people actually defend this woman of less than average intelligence. What's even worse is that they follow her around like sheep. The same applies to Michele Bachmann. It's even more laughable when they have Carrie Prejean trying to jump on this bandwagon. If this is the best that the GOP can serve up as women in conservative leadership roles they're in BIG trouble, the Democrats have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Don't think you'll get a chance to vote for her, whether you're "smart" or not. Fox threw her under the bus regarding her clueless coin conspiracy, and today repub strategist Alex Castellanos said "I think it is going to be very tough for Sarah Palin, who has stepped back from the governorship under the explanation that her state would be better off without her, to now explain why the other 49 states would somehow be better off with her."

And you're still a birther? Loved the article about how Orly baby told all her lawsuit witnesses to lie, and how your two heroes, Larry Sinclair and Orly Taitz are linked. Quoting the affidavit that Larry Sinclair filed in a California court, he accuses birther Orly Taitz of trying to get him to lie on the stand. In it, Sinclair recounts being ushered into Taitz?s office and being told by her to ?testify that three (3) member (sic) of Obama?s church were murder (sic).?

I hope Sarah Palin gets her revenge, and a good one! Katie Couric, Charles Gibson, and a few other choice arrogant reporters, ought to be exposed for what they are: Biased, left-wing loons, who will distort, lie and try to humiliate anyone that does not agree with their strange, leftist ideologies. What a shame that the nation has these kinds of individuals reporting news. I am only turning to Fox News now, as millions upon millions of other Americans do. Sooner or later Fox News will overtake them all: CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, in the ratings.

I think not. And, yet you have the audacity to call Sarah Palin a moron. Methink you are the real, and true moron, my friend. Get a life and stop the hatred! Sarah will flourish and become even more famous and a multi-millionaire and your hatred will not stop it from happening. Who knows, she might even be your president one of these days!

Palin owes her career($$$$) to McCain who only picked her to be vp because the right-wing told him to do so. He never really wanted her as VP. She complained that the McCain advisors shielded her from the public. This was probably done to protect their campaign from further ridicule from her silly statements. I was really shocked when she said in the Katie C. interview she would go to war with Russia(over Georgia) if necessary.

Who the hell is Sarah Palin? Seriously why is the media so obsessed with writing stories about nobodies? Helloooo....news media, nobody cares about Palen, Levi, balloon boy, Kate Gosslin and all the other glory seeking slobs that get their mugs on the tube.

by ispeakthetruth November 13, 2009 7:36 AM EST

Reality check time!!

You see up at the top of the comments section? There's a comment total listed up there. The more comments that are generated, the more stories they will do on that subject or person. And that makes perfect sense. Similar to a Neilson TV rating. If you hate a show, but still watch it, it's still registered as a viewer and they will continue the show. You, by posting a comment adds to the push to run more stories about folks like Palin, Levi, balloon boy, Kate Gosslin etc. It's ironic that you rail against these type of stories, yet you contribute to the media's desire to run such stories by showing interest.

I dont like Palin or Oprah.

Few people have done more damage to the moral fabric of America than Oprah by legitimizing and mainstreaming a daytime unemployed entitlement culture. I guess Jerry Springer would be a close second on trashing the culture.

DON'T TRUST ANYONE WHO HATES OPRAH. I just don't trust them. They are either jealous of her fame and fortune. Or they have mental issues. You don't have to agree with her politics but you do need to respect that she is trying to help people.

I lost much respect for Oprah when she tried to act indignant about the so-called author James Frey and her Book Club rave when he was exposed as a fraud...then had him back on her show to confront him. Let's not forget Margaret B. Jones, who snookered O and Co into believing she was a gangbanger and her fake memoir was trumpeted in O magazine.

Winfrey was a journalism major for the love of mike...does she just read teleprompters now and depend on her staff to check something out before she endorses it? As for the Palin interview, IMO, the O is only doing it for November sweeps.
