I Can "Haz" Success
In less than 2 years, Ben Huh has created a meme empire. For those non-web geeks, according to the semi-trusted Wikipedia an Internet meme is, "a catchphrase or concept that spreads quickly from person to person via the Internet." Basically, it’s something that goes viral folks and quickly! So rewind to 2007. Huh stumbles on Lolcats 'n' Funny Pictures of Cats – I Can Has Cheezburger?, a site that basically has users putting funny captions on feline photos, and decides to buy it himself. He has since moved on to create The Cheezburger Networks, which has developed around 25 more popular user-generated sites from Failblog to EngrishFunny including pictures of all that is misspelled.
His motto? Make people happy 5 minutes a day!
I recently caught up with the 32-year old meme maven at The Blogworld Expo in Las Vegas (yes, it’s a conference dedicated to blogging), where he told me about the recipe behind his success and his latest online venture, DailySquee. This time he’s tapping into something most of us can admit to loving or at least forwarding on, pictures of baby animals:
