It appears that GM had already come up with their own bankruptcy plan. Are there any UAW's in China.

If the President were to push for "Buy American," loud and forcefully, that very act would turn around this countries doomed economic crisis in short order.

Buy American is a nice sentiment, but they are also meaningless words since "American" often means a corporate presence in the United States and manufacturing facilities located in Mexico and China. This is exactly why a US stimulus plan that involves consumer spending usually ends up spurring job growth in someone elses economy.

I agree with you though, the politicians, corporate leaders and Wallstreet have sold out the country and their fellow citizens for a few pieces of silver.

Folks just don't seem to understand that our leaders, including the president, have sold us out to multinational corporations without a patriotic bone between all of them.

If the President were to push for "Buy American," loud and forcefully, that very act would turn around this countries doomed economic crisis in short order.

Where is the patriotism from our leaders?

Where is the call to buy American and fill American coffers with wealth instead of lining the pockets of some foreign countries bank account?

And if the American people finally got it through their thick skulls that the bargains at toyota and wal-mart are killing our country and sending our wealth and jobs overseas, they'd be less interested in saving a few bucks today only to lose their jobs tomorrow.

Wake up America, buy American, save you and your families and your friends and your neighbors jobs.

Do it not and watch America sink to 3rd world status with only ourselves to blame.

I could write a book: "Watch while America shoots itself in the foot and bleeds to death, but we saved 4 bucks and 12 cents doing it."

Obama's own idea is back firing on him.

Eligibility debate explodes on White House 'dialogue' site
74% of voters demand Obama release long-form birth certificate

The entire transparency portion of the White House website on "open government dialogue" has been overrun with citizens calling on Barack Obama to release his elusive "long-form" birth certificate to establish his constitutional eligibility to serve as president.

The link to this website, which again, was Obama's idea, is here:

You can do a lot with the 1/4 BILLION dollars that they pay their fatcat executives. At least the UAW contributes to the local economy. A 25 million dollar house on Palm Beach doesn't do anyone in Detroit, Cleveland, or Pontiac any good!

Do you really think that a CEO making 200 million dollars a year is THAT much better than someone you could get for a paltry 1 million dollars a year????

Kick the bums out and PUT A GENERAL IN CHARGE OF GENERAL MMOTORS!!!!

Too big to fail, that was the mantra months ago. Well they have failed. Now they will have to build small cars that no one wants. Then the price of gas will go to $10 a gallon and then the cars will sell. How will they plow snow, how will they tow a trailer or anything else. They won't. You will be buying a mobile coffin. Glad that Robin Hood is so great. Taking from those of us who have and giving it to the unions first, the supplier and other people later. The unions own the company now and it will go down the tubes as fast as can be. They will still be sleeping in carboard boxes while getting paid like in the past. Nothing will change. Only thing will happen is the billions we have already poured in and a few more billion yet to go down the drain. We got 50 billion in so far, and another 50 billion to come and after that more billions. Amtrack, Postal Service, two of the great government servicers running so well. Government motors will be just like Amtrack.

I have owned only GM or Ford cars since I was old enough to drive. They have always been reliable and dependable. I have drove half way across America and back in my '99 Ford without a hitch. Although I remember my friend's Toyota breaking down on a similar trip. Anyways, if you buy import cars because you bought into the hype then you are a fool and un-American. The foreigners sold you a lie not a better car, and now we will all pay for it. Their is NO good reason not to buy American, unless you're not American.

I can't help but wonder how all those people in Michigan, Ohio, etc. whose livelihood was the auto industry or auto industry supply companies feel now about voting democrat last November. Oh well, even though the bankruptcy happened on Obama's watch, they can all sit at the bar and blame Bush and Cheney for GM tanking.

GM was brought down by bad decisions on the part of management. After decades of riches, they forgot how to compete. Competition and capitalism are like gravity. You might not like it, but it is a law of nature. No company could survive with labor and pension costs like GM took on. They should have stood up to the unions years ago, but they were spineless. They were always looking at next week and hoping for the best, while they should have been planning for competition that was inevitable.

Let's not forget that these "unemployed" uaw workers are getting @ 70% of their pay via unemployment and the uaw. Kinda' hard to feel sorry for these folks who make $30/hr when you're making $14. Kinda' like feeling sorry for unemployed Wall St. bankers.

GM has always made cr**! The cars rattle and spend a lot of time in the shop. Buy Toyota and you'll have a car for 200,000 miles and see a repair shop rarely. Instead of making decent products, GM paid big salaries and benefits to its workers not to mention those poor CEO's. The pension plan doesn't have enough to pay out, but no concessions have been made to that. Retirees still get their full pension with the plan and yes follks, the rest of us are paying for it!! Angry?? You bet!

Am I the only one who realizes that this is the end of American industrial might? The end of the working middle class. The ability to make anything in this country anymore. The end of the American economy and the beginning of the return of the United States to colony status. After all, what is the economic place of a colony other then to ship its raw materials to other countries and then to be at their mercy to receive hight priced manufactured goods in return, working for peanuts and seeing all the wealth you produce go into the hands of others.

New Car by GM

The Obamamobiel

Whey you get it, it will have a 72% approval Rating
If you don?t pay taxes you will get a voucher to buy one
Once you drive it, it has no substance or Power.

You forgot to add that it will weigh 1500 pounds, sit one comfortably, and be absolutely demolished when hit by a 40 ton tractor trailer.

In addition, you will receive a tax credit for buying it. If you elect instead to buy a more comfortable, roomier, and safer car, you will pay a tax penalty as a result.

And, when repairs are needed, you will have to ship it post paid to Mexico. And parts, if available, will only be manufactured for 2 years - the expected life of the vehicle.
