Video Shows Taliban Militants Downing U.S. Chinook

(Nida al Jihad)
A video posted on the Internet on Monday showed pictures of a missile fired by Taliban militants hitting a Chinook helicopter that hovered in the skies.

The video shows the moment when the missile hits the helicopter and the large flame that spurted out of it from various angles. The video then showed pictures of columns of dark smoke rising from what is thought to be the Chinook, though the video did not include any pictures showing the plane as it crashed. Later on in the video, a helicopter is seen flying really low and lifting some of the soldiers who had been injured in the attack.

The Taliban commander in charge of the Kunar area, Mufti Anwar, was seen making a statement where he pledged to carry out more attacks against U.S. forces. The video then showed aftermath pictures of the attack on a U.S. military convoy with shots of a Humvee and a truck both set alight.

The militants were also shown testing some U.S. weapons that they seized during the attack.

The video closed with shots of an attack on what the group called a "crusaders' base" where the militants used RPGs and BK antiaircraft guns.

The 37-minute video was released by the militant Islamist media house Nida al Jihad.

Pictures from this video have been aired on al Arabiya Arab news channel last Wednesday.
