Day 8: Obama Tries To Win Over Stimulus Skeptics

(AP)
On his eighth day in office, President Obama went to the Capitol in an effort to convince skeptical Republicans to back his $825 billion stimulus package.

"We had a wonderful exchange of ideas I continue to be optimistic about our ability to get this recovery package done," the president said – despite warnings from GOP leaders that they are not yet sold on the bill.

I never look at any politician that positively. It does neither American''s nor him or her a favor. Scrutiny keeps people honest and representing the interests of the constituency. I will always respect the office, so much so that I would never want the person in office to fail me with policies that are not supportive of the free market.

Does this plan put money into our pockets? If you look at the breakdown, it appears that there are no tax cuts, which is the best way to stimulate the economy. It allows the worker to keep his or her earnings. This plan seems to be everything that our dear Democrats ever wanted to pass. Tell me how money towards family planning puts money into my pocket? I am all about money towards infrastructure, but don''t hide it in a "stimulus plan."

Gentleman, i''m glad that we have president Obama, the man is trying to do every thing he can for all of us. However remember that it takes money to buy goods and services. All the tax credits are not gonna help us we need money in the pockets of americans, to be able to spend. if no jobs, no money.if it is the tax payers money then give it to the tax payers to buy more. The jobs will follow if spending goes up. most problems in the economy will take care of them selves if we have money to start with in our pockets and jobs to go to work to. it must be money in the hands of americans to make it work or it will fail. monte reese indiana
