Incendiary New Ad Attacks Obama's "Wrong Values"

CBS News' Michelle Levi reports that a PAC called Our Country Deserves Better is now running an ad that is essentially a compilation of most of the character and association attacks made against Barack Obama throughout the year.

The ad, "Obama's Wrong Values," began running Sunday night in Reno, Nevada and has since expanded across the state. The group plans to air the spot in Colorado starting tomorrow and run it in Michigan – where McCain has pulled his advertising – by the end of the week.

According to a PAC spokesman, the group has already spent just under $100,000 in Nevada and Colorado to run the spot. The group said its budget in Michigan is "$500,000 or higher." It said it has plans to expand to Ohio and Pennsylvania, adding that its funding comes largely from a large number of small donors.

The anti-Obama group says it is kicking off a two week "Stop Obama Tour," which will include rallies, starting tomorrow.

According to its web site, the group has one objective: "to defeat Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election."

They promise they "won’t be subtle or vague - America’s future is at stake, and it’s time someone stood up to Barack Obama and told the American people why this man cannot, and must not, serve as our next Commander-in-Chief."

The 30 second spot opens with a narrator saying "Barack Obama seems to have different values from most Americans." As he says this, the Democratic nominee is spotlighted without his hand on his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance.

"His supporters put up Cuban flags with the murderous leftist Che Guevara in Obama's campaign offices," the narrator continues. "Obama's campaign received $33,000 in illegal donations from Palestinians living in the Middle East. A top official of the terrorist group Hamas endorsed Obama's campaign. And who can forget these hateful sermons from Obama's pastor of over 20 years."

At this point, Rev. Jeremiah Wright is shown saying "God Damn America."

Yep, that''s right, it is hateful to point out the truth. Please show me where the ad is wrong. Please tell me why it is wrong to question Obama''s past associations. He served on two boards with Ayers, he sat in Wright''s pews for 20 years. Birds of a feather folck together. The only hate I see is coming from Wright, Ayers, and ACORN.

Oh, well. What do you expect from the rabid-right. They are evil, corrupt, slime-balls, and that is why Obama is ahead. Most folks recognize the fact that the Republican party has imploded and all that is left is a black-hole of hatred for other Americans that don''t agree with their radical positions. Sad to see the GOP in such a pitiful state.

There''s not going to be enough of a Party left to even be called a National Party IF someone within that Party doesn''t figure this out. These people are WAY over the line and are nothing but PURE hatred. It will not just backfire, it will exterminate the party on a national level. TODAY they can hold a convention in many states and this will most certainly NOT help...

It''s called GUILT by Association you poor uneducated person. It was and has always been the weapon of choice of FASCIST all over the world. To say it is UN-AMERICAN to try to hold someone else responsible for the actions of OTHERS, especially when within the ranks of the attacking party are MORE KKK members than ANY group on earth, is an understatement!!

This is soooo sad!
McCain choice from the very beginning to allow personal greed, ambition,/his soul for the "idol made of gold" gave his true enemies (hard-core radically conservative Republicans)the way to help destroy the little bit of integrity, honor, and trust he had during the 2000 campaign.I truly believe that the truth is hitting McCain square in the eyes that he will never achieve credibility or redemption for his acts. After this election he will be a political pariah.

If McCain wants to paint him as being guilty by association with Ayres. it will be a mistake. Obama%u2019s simple response will

be %u201CSenator McCain, Using your logic, Bob Scheiffer and myself would be guilty of bad judgement in the Keating 5 ethics

violations matter simply because we are on the same stage with you. But then again, It wasnt your associate who did that,

was it? It was you. And of course, It wasn%u2019t your associate who revealed the entire flight inventory of the Forrestal to

Hanoi, or showed them the flight paths into North vietman. It was you. And it wasnt your associate who gave so much

information to Hanoi that their fellow prisoners named them %u2018Songbird%u2019, was it? It was you. And it wasnt your associate

who said they would place the architect of the current economic meltdown; %u201CPhil Gramm%u2019 as secretary of the treasury. It

was you. So, if you are done with all this guilt by association McCarthyism, We do have some economic issues to solve,

Hey irmcvet97,

Obama sought these people, he joined Ayer''s boards, funded ACORN''s programs. Trained their workers, represented them in court, then lied about having anything to do with them. He has called Wright a great man and his personal mentor. He was a member of that church when they honored Farrakhan, that is tacit approval. This is not guilt by association, these are the people that Obama seeks to further his career then discards when the press finds out. If you can''t see it, you are the poor uneducated fool.

P.S. I bet you spit on soldiers returning from Vietnam.

Desperate people doing and saying desperate things. If Mr. McCain wants to discuss guilt by association then he needs to talk about the Keating 5 and the fact that his wife still has dealings with the Keathings. He also needs to tell us more about William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who heads his transition team as his ties to Saddam Hussein''s government. Good thing Mr. Timmons will not be needed any longer after Nov 4th. I do not see how Mr. McCain can be re-elected to the Senate when his term expires.

I have been following both candidates closely, I have had to consistently switch media channels to get any kind of true sense of what is really going on. I will never trust the news media as a reliable source on anything, If I had my way CNN, MSNBC and the likes should be boycotted until their sponsors caught on and pulled out, a good dose of capitalism would calm their desire to cater to socialistic ideals.
It appears to me that the associations of Barack Obama are important. I get a sense that he truly would like to radicalize our youth, redistribute our wealth, and create an america that he can believe in, not the one I grew up to hold as the ideal. I work long hours, travel extensively to provide a lifestyle for my family, I cannot believe that someone can be so shallow as to believe it is fair to garnish what I have achieved through my own determination and sacrafice to give to those with less ambition.
Finally, I would really appreciate the media letting us know who were the members of congress that felt it necessary to tack on $180 Billion to the $700 Billion rescue package, that was nothing less than extortion and they should be exposed.

robtri93....Your post is nothing but one big giant lie. Your so called facts are totally wrong and this has been verified by a number of reputable sources. I have yet to see one shred of proof that Obama gave 800 thousand dollars to ACORN. The boards you refer to were NOT Ayres boards they were part of the Annenberg Foundation which is a supporter of the republican party. But please do not stop what you are doing. The thinking people of this country have got your number and these smears and lies will not serve you well. We are sick and tired of you and we are taking our country back. Again and again, no supportive comments for McCain by the repubs, only statements against Obama.
McCain can''t win if all votes for him are based on Obama hatred. There is no passion from the repubs for McCain, none. This reminds me of the election in ''92 when the repubs could onlybash Clinton with no support for GB senior. That''s a losing strategy folks.

So the Swift Boat brigade is back, eh? Or is this yet another ''special interest'' group, stuck deeply in McCain''s pocket?

Ayers, Rezko, Wright and Farrakan have NEVER ONCE advised Obama on ''policy''.
The same CAN NOT be said of Bush, Cheney, or Palin. They ARE McCain''s cohorts and advisors!
McCain''s economic advisor said the bad economy was ''all in our minds and called us whiners.'' Who else would have suggested to McCain that the fundamentals of our economy are strong?.

When you agree with George Bush, 90% of the time, he''s YOUR pal...

If you polled America on the folks from Obama''s past, at least 4 in 10 would view THEM favorably.
One is a respected educator.
One is a preacher.
One is a concert violinist.
One is working with the government.

Spin it as you must...Obama''s ''so called pals'' have a more popular rating then Bush,Cheney,Rove or Palin!

Obama has always said, ''this election is not about me...its about you''.

McCain has always said-its about him...

Ahh the sowing of more seeds of hate. Just when McCain / Palin are down 14 points in the polls due to negative campaigning and Palins Duh factor, this is going to come out. Here in Colorado we have had just about enough of any kind of political ad, but expressly negative ones. This will help move what independents if any that is left to move away from McCain. He is starting to shy away from his losing negative campaign, but this ad will be associated with him and make it look as if he is lying about his newly discovered tone.

Khalid Mansoor- sponsored Obama''s harvard studies.

Ayers- unrepentant domestic radical.

McCain knows Ayers was a rehabilitated and respected member of the community by the time Obama was old enough to vote. Every major journalist has said there is no substance to these links to terrorism. McCain himself was tied to the Iran Contra scandal through a group linked to ex-Nazis twenty years ago- does this mean he is a Nazi sympathizer? So, while the economy is failing, McCain is making a call for all bigots and hate-mongers to join his parade of slime. He is desperate and it is a personal call to jihad for his campaign. And they are coming out of the woodwork, every right wing nut in the country is answering the call with the fear and smear garbage that McCain is using to whip up hatred. McCain is not a hero or a leader. He displays the same cowardice that he displayed when he ratted on his Keating Five comrades to escape prosecution. At a Florida rally where Palin called Obama a terrorist some one even yelled Kill Him! - shades of the Nazi hate rallies. McCain is bringing great shame on the electoral process and his erratic behavior makes it clear he is not qualified to be president any more than his junkyard dog running mate.

From screaming kill a US Senator on national tv, to going nuts with this Ayers ACORN *** (can''t you find something else to bombard us with, say one of McCain''s campaign chiefs lobbying for Saddam, or um, being found guilty in a violation of ethics, orrrr, being involved with the Keating 5 that bankrupted AMERICAN seniors, or actually being funded by the Annenburg Group...) I mean really. You guys attack, attack, and attack. But, nobody listens except your fellow crazies! Nobody takes you seriously because you act like complete and utter buffoons for the entire world to see. It''s laughable, and the republican party is distancing itself from you at every turn. Element51,

Wow are you stupid. Ayers applied for a grant from the Annenberg Challenge and picked Obama for the board to help distribute the money. It is a fact. I agree with you that Annenberg himself would have never granted the money if he had known what it would be used for ie radical indoctrination of Chicago students. The Obama campaign first told the FEC (Federal Election Commission) that the $800,000 payment to ACORN was for concert equipment, then they were found out and had to admit it was for a get out the vote push. You are the liar, you are the kool-aid drinker. I pity you. Facts have nothing to do with hate. You just hate the facts. Peace.

HEAD OF McCAIN''S PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION TEAM LOBBIED FOR SADDAM HUSSEIN

William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who JOHN McCAIN has named to HEAD HIS PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION TEAM, aided an influence effort on BEHALF of IRAQI DICTATOR SADDAM HUSSEIN to ease international sanctions against his regime.

Timmons'' activities occurred in the years following the first Gulf War, when Washington considered Iraq to be a ROGUE ENEMY STATE and a sponsor of TERRORISM.

In 1992, and for FIVE YEARS after, Timmons worked closely with two lobbyists, Samir Vincent and Tongsun Park, LOBBYING FOR a prospective deal with SADDAM HUSSEIN to purchase and resell Iraqi oil. Timmons, Vincent, and Park stood to share at least $45 MILLION if their deal went through.

Virtually everything Timmons did during his lobbying campaign was WITHIN DAYS conveyed to SADDAM HUSSEIN''S top aides, Tariq Aziz and Nizar Hamdoon. IRAQI replies were sent back to Timmons. Proposals that TIMMONS HIMSELF CIRCULATED to U.S. OFFICIALS as part of the effort were WRITTEN WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF IRAQI OFFICIALS, and Timmons sent these proposals to IRAQI OFFICIALS for advance approval.

An investigator on the U.N. investigation said of Timmons: "He would have to be the most naive person in the world to believe that (he was not lobbying for Saddam). I guess William Timmons is just a natural born oilman. He is either deceiving himself to rationalize what he has done or taking the rest of us for fools."
