Updated: Katie's Interview With Sarah Palin

This morning, Katie sat down with Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin in New York. In the exclusive interview, Katie asked her a wide range of questions on foreign policy and the current economic situation. You can read the full transcript right here, or check out some highlights below.

Sarah Palin: The interesting thing in the last couple of days that I have seen is that Americans are waiting to see what John McCain will do on this proposal. They’re not waiting to see what Barack Obama is going to do. Is he going to do this and see what way the political wind’s blowing. They’re waiting to see if John McCain will be able to see these amendments implemented in Paulson’s proposal.

Katie Couric: If this doesn't pass, do you think there's a risk of another Great Depression?

Palin: Unfortunately, that is the road that America may find itself on. Not necessarily this, as it's been proposed, has to pass or we're gonna find ourselves in another Great Depression. But there has to be action taken, bipartisan effort – Congress not pointing fingers at this point at … one another, but finding the solution to this, taking action and being serious about the reforms on Wall Street that are needed.

Be sure to follow Obama''s talking points, Sarah, and you will be fine. You follow Fossil John''s and you will be in hot water, UP TO YOUR NECK.

John MacCain must put Sarah Palin on the road free of the incumberances of politicial handlers.
Because Palin is so charismatic. Maccain needs to permit her to spar with the media and prove she is intelligent and informed.
Lets find out once and for all how she handles the New York media.

Stop treaitng her like china. If she really is qualified why are they so controlling? So far she has said nothing... so I say unless that changes--totally ignore her. See how quickly they will release her then.

People are missing the point on these UN meetings. Gov. Palin is speaking to these foreign leaders for a lot more than the 23 seconds that the press pool is allowed to listen in. She spent ALL DAY YESTERDAY AND ALL DAY TODAY . . speaking, and getting Zardari was GUSHING OVER HER AND SAID HE UNDERSTOOD WHY AMERICA WAS SO IN LOVE WITH HER!!! It''s not about the angry liberal press getting the story. The McCain campaign is absolutely right to leave you all out of the meetings! She''ll say the sky is partly cloudy and you''ll have a weather guy say she''s wrong, it''s partly sunny and it''ll be broadcast as worse than when Biden asked a man in a wheel chair to stand up! She''s classy & the world loves her. Get used to it! She''s going to be the next VP!

Please. Someone list Barack Obama''s relevant experiences that make him a better candidate for President than Palin is for VP? Anyone? No? Didn''t think so. Face it. People are voting for him either because he is a far left liberal and that is what they are as well or because he is black and it makes them fell better to vote for him. It sure as heck isn''t based on his "experience" because all that even Obama can come up with is that he has "run a Presidential campaign." Pathetic reason to vote for anyone.

Palin''s claim to fame is slaughtering moose from a helicopter and trying to get polar bears removed from the endangered species act - real class act.

Question: Why does the GOP substitute strong, intelligent women for programmable stepford wives who say "we can''t blink" ten times in a row?

It is so sad to see all the hatred in our world, as reflected in the vitriolic comments above and in other blogs. We thought that it was outside the US among Palestinians and Jews, and Indians and Pakistanies, but it''s showing up all over the place in the political campaign. Instead of reasoned comments, there is just hate, often for people we know little about and have never met. They just happen to be on the "wrong side of the fence", and so they are "my evil enemies". There is certainly a shortage of real love in the world and obviously in the US as well, and it''s just getting worse. Think about what you say before you spew your venom on others.

At least Sarah Palin doesn''t travel with a teleprompter. She also doesn''t tell people confined to a wheelchair to "stand up, let ''em see you." Let somebody interview Katie Couric and see how much SHE knows without her script.

The Left has to portray all Republicans as stupid - as they did with Reagan. This is their standard approach. The reality is that she has governed successfully at multiple levels while successfully maintaining a grounded life. She has more experience than Obama or Biden - neither of whom has ever managed more than a dozen people other than through a campaign manager. Biden favored dividing Iraq. Evidence of great thinking? Biden and Obama were both wrong on the surge. Great thinking? Both represent the collectivist economics that have consistently produced unemployment rates double ours and growth rates half ours in Europe. Great minds indeed.

"Biden is going to eat her in the debate"

Oh really? Apparently you have never heard Senator Biden pontificate errrr, I mean speak. When he is actually using his own material and thoughts, as opposed to inserting himself into the heroic life story of a British politician instead, he is long winded and never really says anything. Biden will use 10,000 words to avoid answering a question rather than simply answering it. The American people will quickly tune out Professor Biden but they will likely remember what Palin has to say because 1) she has a personality and 2) she will actually answer questions in language that people will understand. Plus, Palin seems like she has a spine while Biden looks to be the typical pudgy, balding, pseudo-intellectual Eastern elitist snob that middle Americans just despise. No doubt the media elites, who everyone knows are in the tank for Obama and Biden anyway, will say that Biden trounced her in the debates no matter how foolish Biden looks but heartland Americans will know better.

Palin has more class in the rim of her glasses than the collective sack of leftists posting bile on this site. Accept fact: Barry blew it and McCain/Palin will be playing tug-o-war with the failing Reid/Pelosi congress until America wises up and ousts them as well.

McCain''s choice of Palin as a running mate tells us so much about Senator McCain. It shows us just how much he cares about his country and about us Americans by choosing Palin as the person to take over the presidency if something (God Forbid) should happen to him. He chose someone, not to help him with his campaign or win the presidency, but to ensure that Americans are secure and prosperous. This is just oe example of how John McCain puts Country First.

If elected, we can expect to see more examples of how much he cares about us ordinary citizens.

Governor Sarah Palin sounds so much more articulate and insightful than either Joe Biden or Barack Obama. Without a telepromter, what comes out of Barack''s mouth is uh,er, uh, uh, er, uh. The man is a total empty suit.

Why are you weak-noodle leftists scared silly of a conservative woman who doesn''t stutter, stammer and look away from the camera when she speaks? Amazing, how you weaklings blindly throw your support behind an empty suit who, if applying for the FBI, wouldn''t last 5 minutes into a background check! - Just say "NO" to B.O.

Saying something like that (even if it isn''t an original thought) disqualifies you from any discussion on what is "classy." Deliciously ironic post, though. It seems liberals are VERY familiar with porn stars. Wonder why? ;-)

Bile? It''s so funny to hear Republicans talk about liberal "hate" when all you have to do is turn on the radio to hear Rush and the crew trash-talk about: Mexians, ***, liberals, women, etc - LIST TOO LONG..

We all know who and what the GOP represents - it represents the racist stick the Democrats long-abandoned - that is the base of the GOP and there is no denying it. Big business gets the benefits, while the GOP tugs at the hate-strings to get votes. It happens over and over again.

McCain hired the same crew that smeared his family - can you really expect any *thinking* adult to vote for someone who throws away everything to become president?

People are beginning to push back against the mind control methods of the Bush advisors. They assumed that the electorate would be just as gullible and acceptable of their guise as they were in the previous two presidential campaigns, so subsequently, nobody has been allowed to talk to palin. The press has still not been allowed to vett this vp candidate for the public. And, it is doubtful, even at this stage in the campaign that we will ever see an independent thought from her, no matter how many interviews she has. Consequently the public knows only that she is a dutiful little soldier for the Bush continuance. The public has learned.

The folks underestimated President Bush, I see they are doing it again. This Country really needs a lady like Gov Palin in the WH. It''s interesting to see how many people do not know how to handle the sudden emergence of this bright, articulate, savvy woman on the national scene -- how many are feeling ''threatened'' by Sarah Palin. Tells you a lot about where we are as a nation.

The remarks about her unreadiness to be President are a mix of truth and BS. The same is true of Obama. But the over-shadowing difference between them is that she''s a woman.

It''s really hilarious to read what the liberal NOW-types have to say about her: family? God? guns? self-reliance? Hockey? Somehow, the liberal colleges of America have not prepared today''s young females for one of their own who doesn''t take her plays from the same playbook. How dare she?

So, she draws the bulk of comments about her from a basically sexist point of view -- including MOST sexist remarks by women, who should know better.

We''ve had quite a few men who became president with similar levels of experience, yet I don''t recall the comments about them being ill-prepared. Men like Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and Bill Clinton come to mind.

And let''s not forget she is running for VP, not for the top spot. She''ll spin up to speed very quickly, as evidenced by how well she''s handled herself todate on the national stage.

Get used to her, libs. Looks like she is here to stay, one way or another.

You can sense the hatred from the left over Sarah Palin. Let''s see..the left said that Trig is her grandson, not her son...THAT WAS A LIE. They stole and published her personal info on the web, including the last 4 of her social security number, DOB and addresses..THEN...some nimrod hacked into her personal email account and exploited her privacy! If this had happened to Hillary the LIBS would be having a freaking cow! Go Sarah!

Liberal women hate Palin because she is almost everything a feminist should be, but never thought she needed abortion to guarantee her ability to achieve her goals. Liberal women never screamed much about McCain''s abortion position, he''s not a threat to them on an intra-gender level. Progressive women fear Palin as a stronger female and a real threat their power as self-appointed spokeswomen for society. They are so used to speaking for all women without caring if they really do. I have never met a conservative woman who thought she spoke for all women. I have never met a liberal woman thought she didn''t. And here comes Sarah the Barbarian to punk these petulant progressive princesses. Sad, isn''t it?

Those were reasoned and clear comments. What aspect of her remarks were off base?

I hate to acknowledge that America today is a nation of elitist whose opinion is all ideals are all that matters. Palin represent the America I read about and lived as a child. And I was raised in an inner city.

Europeans have been fighting this war for centuries and now its apart of American culture. Barak Obama is in a close race because he is a collectives and leftist period. Recall Al Gore ran after two Clinton terms and he didn%u2019t run win because unlike Clinton he ran as a leftist. Obama attempted to mask his positions but now the mask is off and people even thought they want change are very concern about his leftist/collective agenda. Way to go Palin keeps on helping us typical Americans understand whom we are fighting.
