Obama Lays Out Economic Plans In Two-Minute TV Ad

Barack Obama today is launching a two minute ad in which he talks about his plans for the economy. The ad will run “nationally and in battleground states,” according to the campaign. Watch it and see below for the full transcript:

Full transcript:
In the past few weeks, Wall Street’s been rocked as banks closed and markets tumbled. But for many of you – the people I’ve met in town halls, backyards and diners across America – our troubled economy isn’t news. 600,000 Americans have lost their jobs since January. Paychecks are flat and home values are falling. It’s hard to pay for gas and groceries and if you put it on a credit card they’ve probably raised your rates.

You’re paying more than ever for health insurance that covers less and less. This isn’t just a string of bad luck. The truth is that while you’ve been living up to your responsibilities Washington has not. That’s why we need change. Real change. This is no ordinary time and it shouldn’t be an ordinary election. But much of this campaign has been consumed by petty attacks and distractions that have nothing to do with you or how we get America back on track.

Here’s what I believe we need to do. Reform our tax system to give a $1000 tax break to the middle class instead of showering more on oil companies and corporations that outsource our jobs. End the “anything goes” culture on Wall Street with real regulation that protects your investments and pensions.

Fast track a plan for energy ‘made-in-America’ that will free us from our dependence on mid-east oil in 10 years and put millions of Americans to work. Crack down on lobbyists, once and for all, so their back-room deal-making no longer drowns out the voices of the middle class and undermines our common interests as Americans. And yes, bring a responsible end to this war in Iraq so we stop spending billions each month rebuilding their country when we should be rebuilding ours.

Doing these things won’t be easy. But we’re Americans. We’ve met tough challenges before. And we can again. I’m Barack Obama. I hope you’ll read my economic plan. I approved this message because bitter, partisan fights and outworn ideas of the left and the right won’t solve the problems we face today. But a new spirit of unity and shared responsibility will.

yuo people are so stupid! Have you noticed Obama(sinladins) answer to all the questions he never gives real answers this is the first semi-good answer i have seen from Obama. It still is still a horrible plan. The most important issue in any high level election is abortion. Obama is pro-choice. That means he supports abortion. Which is the kiling of babies. Did you know that at the moment of conception that baby is alive and feals just as much pain as we would if we were killed like that. What does it matter what anybody''s policy is if they kill babies. Those PEOPLE would be the future of America but no we have to kill the future of America. Those people we kill could be our brothers, sisters, cousins, would-be friends, etc. We cannot vote for Obama because he is the same as a terrorist because he kills people(babies). But McCain won''t kill people. thats why wee should vote for McCain and Pailin, not Obama(sinladin).

I am so disappointed in my fellow countrymen and women! Sommertime6, you are ridiculous. McCain is really the empty suit. Everyone please notice the pattern to McCain''s answers to ANY question. He has the same template response. Step 1) He explains the the question. Step 2)He explains how people are affected. Step 3) He proceeds to tell the public that he is the one that can fix it because he is experienced, maverick, reformer blah blah blah. The step he forgets is "5". He NEVER explains WHAT he will do. For some reason you people and the media keep letting him get away with that answer. No follow-ups are ever asked. You can ask him anything from the economy, the war, to education and he has the same response. Why are Americans so bent on selecting an ignorant president? Have you all not learned your lesson from Bush? You keep making the same mistakes, voting for someone based on their story versus policies that actually affect your lives and the lives of our children. I don''t care if Obama is an elitest. I care about what he would do for the country and his policies. Besides, I WANT an intellect to be president. This is the most powerful position in the world and you all frown upon someone that is intelligent and elect someone who has a "good story". THINK PEOPLE!!!!!! PLEASE!!!

If you have a bucket of water that is leaking what do you do?
Pour in more water? Or plug the holes???

Stop the leaks first by voting out the Corruption of the Conservative Agenda.

A persuasive, concise statement of Obama''s approach to get out nation back on its feet and moving in the right direction.

While John McCain isn''t yet sure whether we have an economic problem or what government''s role should be, if indeed there is a problem.

The choice is clear to me: I''m voting for REAL change, not the unsure meanderings of a confused man and his incompetent running mate.

It is regulations, which only enrich congress members, their cronies and family, that caused the mess. Don''t swallow their promises. They only serve themselves.

The answer isn''t in more regulations. It is the Community Reinvestment Act, the failure of Congress to pull in the reins on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and Congress'' failure to pass a bill in 2005 to give oversight to a independent bureau to stop the reckless policies and practices.
One of the sponsors of the bill even warned of the consequences if Fannie Mae was allowed to continue with these irresponsible practices. Seems that the person was right on.

@ubu2008: Why don''t you read the whole act, and see the problems with it. Like:
"SEC. 205. EXCLUSION FROM CERTAIN SECURITIES REPORTING REQUIREMENTS.
(a) IN GENERAL- The Federal Home Loan Banks shall be exempt from compliance with--

(1) sections 13(e), 14(a), 14(c), and 17A of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and related Commission regulations; and
(2) section 15 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and related Commission regulations, with respect to transactions in the capital stock of a Federal Home Loan Bank.

(b) MEMBER EXEMPTION- The members of the Federal Home Loan Bank System shall be exempt from compliance with sections 13(d), 13(f), 13(g), 14(d), and 16 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and related Commission regulations, with respect to ownership of or transactions in the capital stock of the Federal Home Loan Banks by such members."

There is much more in bills, than the spin your candidate tells you.

My suggestion to the electorate... stop treating this election as a Reality Show.
Stop letting people tell you how to think.
Go read Obama''s plan... go read McCain''s plan... and THINK!
Then vote for what''s best for your kids, your family, and you.

What kind of fast track is that?
Sounds long term to me. Yeah, I''m for bring troups back and ending the war but 10 years for fuel isn''t fast track. Is''t going to do a "fast fix"!
Fast track to me would be raising the tax to companys that moved out of the USA for lower wage, etc.Tax them higher import tax that make up for the cheap wages they moved out of USA for. They need to reopen their factories or companies here! Put our people back to work! Give big breaks on USA factories/companies! Lets give the legal USA citizens the jobs and if companies don''t do it and choose to break the law then close their doors for 3 months with a big fine! Keep doing that and they will decide not to break the law! What ever happpened to punishing the law breakers???? Illegal means breaking the law? Come on candidates, We are not this deep in debt because of health care.
And furthermore, CEO''s that are padding their wallets with ridiculous amounts of money, makes my blood boil!! Severance pay, stealing, cheating, greed, I could go on and on. Set up a committee especially to govern these crooks pay. Don''t tell me they deserve it, gotta be a limit!
And Hey canidates, listen up, isn''t "lobbying" really taking a "bribe". Stop it!
A note to US citizens, we have more control than you think. Boycott our enemies gas, don''t buy made in China, Japan, etc. We are USA, "We the people"!

Wow . . blah, blah, blah. I was expecting some depth since he was shelling out money for a 2 minute ad. John McCain could give this same speech. Goes to show its going to come down to the debates. Everything else is just rhetoric.

was voting for McCain even before Palin came into the picture. She is just an added plus to me.

The democrats are out to rip her into shreds because they see Palin as a threat...yet they say "she knows nothing". It''''s getting comical.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just read the transcript of Obama''''s new commercial. I''''m near poverty level income wise. I''''m not selling my soul to the devil for a $1,000 tax break.
Barack is so full of hot air...it''''s a shame we can''''t convert all that hot air into a useful form of energy.
Palin is a sham and when McCain dies she won''t have a clue of what to do to protect America. She does have neocons Max Boot and Robert Kagan to advise her when McCain is gone, but what do you think they will tell her?
Shame on you John McCain for choosing to try and win an election over ensuring the safety of the American people!
Is there a good reason why you are not correcting the spelling and gramatical errors of the Obama supporters that posted here? I''m just curious.
It''s a shame that ignorant, illiterate people also get to vote but I guess that''s what a free society is about, that is, until the republicans trash the voting machines again like they did in Florida in 2000. McCain/Palin? They will continue the spiral downward until we''re done for and our country will be decimated. We''re already the laughingstock to the rest of the world. You silly, stupid people. No guts, no brains.
GrammaWhamma, your comments made my day - because you obviously don''t read and don''t learn, it''s clear you will be incapable of finding your polling booth on election day. Thank goodness for that.
