In New Ad, Obama Camp Continues To Hammer McCain "Fundamentals" Comment

As we noted in a story yesterday evening, the Obama campaign quickly jumped on John McCain's statement yesterday that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong." McCain made the comment on the same day that two major Wall Street institutions effectively collapsed, and the Obama campaign portrayed McCain's response as evidence that the Republican nominee is "out of touch with what's going in the lives of ordinary Americans."

Now the Obama campaign has released an ad further pounding home the point. "Fundamentals," a 30-second spot the campaign will only say is airing in "key states," opens with yesterday's grim news and nerve-racking music.

These words appear onscreen: "September 15, 2008: Lehman Brothers Collapses. Markets In Turmoil. Job Losses At 605,000 For The Year. Foreclosures At 9800 A Day. And John McCain Says?"

The spot then cuts to video of McCain speaking yesterday.

"Our economy I think, still, the fundamentals of our economy are strong," he says.

McCain's words then appear onscreen, with a question mark signaling incredulity added at the end. McCain is then shown saying the phrase over and over again as the ad asks, "How Can John McCain Fix Our Economy If He Doesn't Understand It's Broken?" The spot closes with a shot of McCain with President George W. Bush.

Obama ads tell the truth.

McCain ads make sh*t up and try to pass it off as truth.

McCain has launched the DoubleTalk Express and Sarah Palin is at the wheel of this bus. He said recently that he knows little of the economy and is on the record being against regulation of Wall St. before he was for it. Phil Gramm (Texas, Enron) a McCain financial advisor called Americans a bunch of whiners about the economy. McCain says he is bullish about the economy until the market crashed. McCain, whose family wealth is in excess of $100 Million has supported the combination of huge expenses for the Iraq War and tax cuts for the extremely wealthy that has helped to drive our economy into the dirt. He has supported Bush economic policies and rejection of Wall Street oversight for the past eight years. Palin can only repeat what McCain tells her to say about the economy and based on his actions, his claims of economic insight and reform are nothing but distortions and empty rhetoric.

As the leader of the Bushevik Party, McCain continues to rely upon the Big Lie method of political persuasion. I am sure that Goerbels would be proud of how well his students have perfected his methods.
