Biden Says Hillary Might Be A Better VP

(CBS)
From CBS News' Ryan Corsaro:

(NASHUA, N.H.) - Joe Biden went above and beyond in showing support for Hillary Clinton today, saying she was more qualified than him to be vice president.

"Make no mistake about this – Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America, let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend. She is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me. But she’s first rate, I mean that sincerely. She’s first rate so let’s get that straight."

The response from Biden came after a man told him he was “happy” that Obama had beat out Clinton to win the nomination. Biden lowered and shook his head as the man delivered what was intended to be a compliment.

A McCain spokesman, who watched the feed live on a streaming news website, immediately sent the quote to the Republican National Committee, who distributed it to members of the press.

Before the event had ended, McCain spokesman Ben Porritt, issued a statement, saying:

“Barack Obama’s most important decision of this election and Biden—the candidate he selects suggests himself that he wasn’t the right man for the job and that Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice. Biden certainly has a credible viewpoint on this.”

It was not the first statement Porritt has released this afternoon. As Biden delivered his speech, the McCain campaign released line after line attacking Biden.

After Biden received a question on gun control, telling the crowd that he supported the second amendment and the right for New Hampshire residents to own guns, Porritt emailed, “This ticket has the worst record on second amendment rights of any ticket in modern presidential history.”

While Biden was illustrating examples of how he and Obama would reach across the aisle on political issues, Porritt wrote, “Barack Obama has zero record of bipartisanship.”

Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A.

1. Does the joint ticket have a calm, cool, and collected " temper
and impulse" [Presidential Temperament]?
2. Does each ticket have sound and sustained "Judgment and Caliber"?
3. Does each ticket have a "presidential depth and degree" in regard
to their purpose, policies, and positions?
4. Does each ticket have adequate, "understanding and knowledge" of
workings around Washington"?
5. Does each ticket have enough "vigor, wisdom and Vision" for the
future of our beloved Great-grand Nation?
6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience
and exposure based on "American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong
soul"?
7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based
on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair
attacks, negativity, and impulsivity? [Danger to country and countries
mission[s].
8. Does the ticket keep country or politics first? [McCain stole
Obama''s change and is running with it.]
Freedom team.

PS: This nation will not buy into the kitchen sink strategy. We are
getting deeper into internal and external holes through these attacks
and the world is laughing at us as they enjoy our partisan Pitt Bull
wounds. I am sure the collective deceptive measures of the GOP, RNC,
FOX, RUSH, ROVE, McCain, and his surrogates will fail to deprive
American voters of their deserved leadership. Media stop cultural
divide and wars.

The best-kept secret in this presidential campaign is Barack Obama''s substantial package of middle class tax cuts--most political junkies can''t even tell you what''s in it and most working-class swing voters don''t even know it exists.

Indeed, those voters would be shocked to discover that, according to independent analyses, Obama is offering 80% of Americans four times as much in tax relief as McCain on average.

For example, I bet you did not know that:

--Obama would provide an immediate $1,000 tax cut to 95% of working families.

--Obama would eliminate income taxes altogether on seniors earning less than $50,000.

--Obama would more than double the Hope tax credit for college, up to $4,000 and make it fully refundable.

--Obama would eliminate all capital gains taxes on small business start-ups.

--Obama would not raise income, payroll, capital gains or any other taxes on any family making less than $250,000.

--McCain''s tax cut plan would provide no new direct relief to 100 million households, but would give a $4 billion tax cut to Exxon Mobil (which recently posted a $40 billion profit) and other big oil companies.

The McCain plan for health insurance and privatization of schools would add a terrible burden on families who would be required to pay for these costs themselves.

McCain is straight-up lying about taxes. Under Obama''s plan, your taxes would only go up if you make more than $603,000 per year. On the contrary, McCain plans to further reduce taxes for the richest 1% at the expense lower and middle income workers.

.............................. MCCAIN ....................... OBAMA
Income ................. Avg tax bill ..................Avg. tax bill

Obama, made a huge political mistake!

Remember Obama only got 1/2 of the votes of the Democratic Party.

The election will be determined by the other 18 million voters that he tossed aside and put them in their place, along with independents.

Again Obama only got 1/2 of the votes from his own Democratic Party.

Why because he did not appeal to the other 18 million. His first real decision in politics was to pick the best V.P., and what a political mistake he picked Biden. It divided the party. Many passionate female democrats will not forget for a long time.

Obama could not even unite the Democratic Party, so how will he unite the nation. Fireworks at the White House?

McCain on the other hand has united the Republican''s.

Hillary didn''t ask for, or want, the VP slot- they worked that one out long ago, and you can see from Joe''s comment that if she had wanted it she would have gotten it. Politics is a complicated business, people- don''t pretend to know what''s happened by what you see on the surface. All the details are worked out where we do not see them. Do you think Obama has all this backing from Biden and others without giving Hillary what she wants? Hillary is very capable of making her own decisions and getting what she wants, and it is obvious from the time and the timing of her and Bill''s appearances at the convention that that was what they asked for and Obama gave them everything they wanted there. Do you doubt that she has not gotten the position she wants in an Obama administration? It is not VP. Yes, Joe Biden was a second choice pick, but not Obama''s second choice pick. And he''s a good pick, and greatly approved of by Hillary. Vote Obama, and Hillary will end up on the Supreme court, or perhaps Secretary of State, or wherever it is that she wants to be. Of course they cannot tell this while they are still on the campaign trail, but Biden let the cat out of the bag (a little) for a reason. Jeez, look at things a little smart, for once.

Well how could he? He''s voted the Dem party line 97% of the time (factcheck.org). McCain votes with the Repubs about 75-90% of the time, depending what year you look at. Obama''s bipartison credentials are about as solid as his credentials to be Commander-in-Chief.

A very humble man. Philippians 2:3 "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." If only we had more like minded men in politics our country would be better off and the world. Obama made a great choice in Biden and both are the type of sincere honest leaders that will bring integrity back to Washington that we so desperately need.

Like I said before and will say again, "As much as I can''t stand Hillary, he should''ve picked her because both blacks and white women wanted to make history".

Biden is a wiser choice for governing because of his experience experience but elections are just games like football.

Obama will loose unless Biden withdraws and puts Hillary on the ticket.

Fact check. Hillary never said she did ot want the vp slot. she told obama that if he was not going to consider her at all for the job, then to please not ask for vetting information. since he never asked for the vetting information - it means he never considered her - which means he was holding a grudge. now he can lick his wounds because he would be running away with the election instead of just barely holding on. if he loses, it''ll be his own fault for not selecting the best person for the job - HIllary.

Since Obama''s bad timing with his innocent "lipstick" remark, the DNC''s female ranks either resort to scathing personal attacks on Palin or quietly stay home. Poor Joe Biden now has to play second fiddle to a man who is helpless without a teleprompter.

We couldn''t be fully united even if HRC was chosen for VP. Obama has an organization with 2 million supporters and 1 million volunteers on the groud. They would have been disenchanted, that Obama couldn''t afford. Its the ground work that is going to win the election or loose. Obama is still working with HRC and she is on the road with the campaign. I am confident she will have a very prestigious position with the administration, if Obama is elected. Please remember, in her run again in 012 or 016, she will need Obama''s supporters backing. I, an Obama supporter will back her as well.

If McCain-Palin can drive a gun-toting social conservative/moderate Evangelical like me into the Democratic camp, look for a very good November for Obama-Biden.

Here''s why:

McCain talks a maverick line.

But it''s all talk.

His campaign, with its seven lobbyists and its corporate rear-kissing was invented by CEOs in East Coast board rooms.

He''s no Western maverick.

He''s a corporate elitist meat puppet.

And he''s going to lose.

McCain''s campaign manager Rick Davis said they will continue to limit press access until the media shows some "deference" to Palin.

Really?

"Deference?"

Defer to these facts, my friends:

Palin is NOT a reformer who hates pork. She LOVES pork.

Palin slopped up $770 million dollars in pork projects putting Alaska in the top three porker states.

Palin did NOT oppose the "Bridge to Nowhere." She supported it. She only "opposed" it when the Feds yanked the project, and she kept the bridge money for other Alaskan porkers.

Palin is a right winger. She opposes abortion even in the case of rape, incest AND even if the health of the mother is in jeopardy. She favors shooting wolves from airplanes and has addressed her husband''''s Alaska Independence Movement affiliation which calls for a vote on Alaska separating from the United States.

In short, Palin is the vindictive, secessionist-leaning right-wing earmark queen from Wasilla, my friends.

And no amount of GOP closet stuffing is going to keep that from coming out.

Conservative?

Feh.

She LOVES our tax dollars. She LIVES on the dole.

Feminist?

Feh.

She is to feminism what Velveeta is to cheese.

Palin is a phony. A joke. An insult to voters.

This is no big deal - there is no serious discussion of this among Hillary''s supporters. What IS a big deal is - where are the TV ads attacking McCain/Palin ? I''m not seeing ANYTHING in Maryland except McCain ads. Where is MOVEON or anybody else ? If you let the Republicans establish their fantasy world as fact, then we will not only have a Republican president, we will NOT make the gains in the House and Senate that were expected. Have the Republicans won the war in Iraq ? That was our most potent issue, now no one talks about it.

Why do you say Palin is successionist leaning? Is it because you believe the lies you''ve heard?

From FactCheck.org:
Palin was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party %u2013 which calls for a vote on whether Alaska should secede from the union or remain a state %u2013 despite mistaken reports to the contrary. But her husband was a member for years, and she attended at least one party convention, as mayor of the town in which it was held.

The party''s chair originally told reporters that Palin had been a member, but the official later retracted that statement. Chairwoman Lynette Clark told the New York Times that false information had been given to her by another member of the party after she first told the Times and others that Palin joined the AIP in 1994. Clark issued an apology on the AIP Web site.

The director of Alaska%u2019s Division of Elections, Gail Fenumiai, confirms that Palin registered to vote in the state for the first time in May 1982 as a Republican and hasn%u2019t changed her party affiliation since. She also told FactCheck.org that Palin%u2019s husband, Todd, was registered with AIP from October 1995 to July 2000, and again from September 2000 until July 2002. (He has since been registered as undeclared.) However, the AIP says Todd Palin "never participated in any party activities aside from attending a convention in Wasilla at one time."

Mr Straight Talk is full of doubletalk.

McCain voted against the Webb amendment calling for adequate troop rest between deployments.

McCain voted against an amendment that would provide $20 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for health care facilities.

McCain voted against increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes.

McCain voted to table an amendment by Senator Dodd that called for an additional $322,000,000 for safety equipment for United States forces in Iraq.

McCain urged other Senate members to table a vote (which never passed) to provide more than $1 billion for National Guard and Reserve equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests.

McCain voted against increasing the amount available for medical care for veterans by $650,000,000.

When it comes to their claim to support the troops, John McCain and his party are flat-out liars. The message is simple - if you really support the troops, stop voting Republican.

OK... I''ll ask again: Can anyone out there explain the Obama plan to me? Can anyone explain in detail how he''ll change America? I''d love to hear from anyone who can explain in depth his economic reform, his welfare reform, his military plan of action or his national healthcare system.

How is he going to create jobs when he plans to tax the corporations that have recently opened up in the U.S.? What effect will the closure of BMW, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Airbus and many native American firms have on my job and our employment situation? How is he going to get our troops home? How is he going to implement a national healthcare system? What effect will his nationalization of U.S. energy companies have on the market?
You say you want to discuss issues and so do I... So let''s do so... But do you know what Obama''s plans are? Have you looked at his friends up close? Do you know where he''s been over the last couple of decades? Have you read Michelle''s graduate thesis? If your answer is "I know because I saw it on CBS or CNN" or any other three-letter outlet, then you owe it to yourself and your children to find out before you make a mistake you''ll regret hopefully for only four years. That is, unless of course, our constitution gets updated and he can stay in power as long as Fidel :-)

As far back as 1998, Biden was calling for a U.S. invasion of that oil rich country. Even though UN inspectors and the UN-led disarmament process led to the elimination of Iraq%u2019s WMD threat, Biden %u2013 in an effort to discredit the world body and make an excuse for war %u2013 insisted that UN inspectors could never be trusted to do the job. During Senate hearings on Iraq in September of that year, Biden told Ritter, %u201CAs long as Saddam%u2019s at the helm, there is no reasonable prospect you or any other inspector is ever going to be able to guarantee that we have rooted out, root and branch, the entirety of Saddam%u2019s program relative to weapons of mass destruction.%u201D

For all of the pseudo-conservatives in the audience: choose ANY mayor of a town of 5400 in your state who has served for two terms. Would that person make a great president? You are asking Americas to accept as VP an individual who has NO foreign policy experience, NO national economic experience, NO national domestic policy experience, NO extensive state economic experience, proposed a total of one (1) state budget in the smallest state (by population) in the union AND who openly supported an anti-American organization since 1994 AND gave keynote speeches to that same group.

Where is the outrage? I do NOT accept McCain''s choice of Vice President. His choice is an insult to America, and as a registered Republican, I will no longer consider McCain as my candidate. I also will not vote for Obama.

I have to praise Joe Biden for being truthful and loyal to his friends. You don''t see that too often in a politician. I think Joe would make a great Vice President. It''s the Presidential candidate that they got wrong. If Hillary was at the top of the ticket, we wouldn''t be talking about polls being close. She would be so far ahead the press would be helping the Repugs try to tear her down.

Sarah Palin is as qualified as Obama to lead this nation. If I had to trust someone to cover my back.I would pick Palin.

==============

After what we''ve all witnessed the DNC doing by placing women at the bottom of the totem pole over the last few months....

I figure any Demotard who claims NObama is more qualified to be President than Sarah Palin, is actually saying:

"The guy is a lot more qualified than the girl who should be barefoot, pregnant, and baking cookies is."

Iff you feel that you weren''''t the best candidate, why wouldn''''t you decline for the best of the country? Oh that''''s right, because you''''re Joe Biden!

If he would have declined, do you actually think Obama would have picked the best choice? He probably would have chosen John Edwards over Hillary. His EGO is too large to share the spotlight with the Clintons.
