Palin Points To Son’s Military Service On The Political Stump

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(LEE’S SUMMIT, MO.) - John McCain, Barack Obama and Joe Biden all agree on at least one thing: candidates’ children are off-limits when it comes to politicking. McCain and Biden have sons in the military, but they haven’t spent much time touting their children’s service on the campaign trail.

Sarah Palin, by contrast, has repeatedly pointed to her son Track’s service in the National Guard when making the case that John McCain should be the next president. Track Palin is scheduled to deploy to the Middle East later this week to begin his training for a tour of duty in Iraq.

“John McCain refused to break faith with the troops who have now brought victory within sight,” Palin said at a rally in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

“I’ll tell ya, as a mother of one of those troops, that is exactly the kind of man I want as commander-in-chief.”

Palin continues to receive the rock star treatment on the campaign trail, as the overflow crowd at the Lee’s Summit event cheered their approval after nearly every line of Palin’s stump speech, much of which was devoted to contrasting McCain’s position on Iraq against Obama’s.

The Alaska governor continued to paint Obama as a political opportunist who is willing to accept American military defeat.

“Now for his part — our opponent — he still can’t acknowledge the coming victory in Iraq,” she said.

Integrity? Biden''s son is going to Iraq at the same time, and Biden is not using it as a campaign tool.

Palin is below contempt.

Would you say that being in the military is a form of community organizing - probably not - but being in the Red Cross or supporting the United way are. ..........
