Obama To Call On Volunteers and Donors After Hurricane Passes

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

(LIMA, OHIO) - Barack Obama promised today that his campaign will mobilize their vast network of volunteers and donors to come to the aide of Gulf Coast residents once Hurricane Gustav passes through the region.

“I think we can activate an email list of a couple million people who want to give back,” he said adding that this could include cash donations.

Obama said his campaign will coordinate with local officials after the effects of the storm are visible to determine what would be most helpful. He explained that they have not reached out to volunteers yet - “We don't want to solicit a bunch of canned goods that can’t get there or bottles of water where they already had water.”

Obama did not criticize John McCain for traveling to Mississippi today; instead he defended his own decision not to travel to the region.

“The thing that I’m always concerned about in the middle of a storm is whether we're drawing resources away from folks on the ground.”

This morning, Obama attended a church service at St. Luke’s Lutheran while Joe Biden attended a Catholic mass in Hilliard, Ohio.

The McCain/RNC move terminates the good PR Obama received from the Democratic Convention - people are impressed by those that do the right thing - that have character. Indeed McCain%u2019s choice of VP condemns the sexism of the Obama/DNC camp. I just got back from Denver where the 203 "PUMA" web sites had their members protest (As an aside, despite some in the media claiming racist motives for PUMA, there%u2019s no one Puma leader or cause beyond the anti-sexism/DNC corruption that stopped Hillary). The media''s lack of interest in the caucus fraud caused by Moveon members is matched by the DNC lack of interest - as both wanted only to see Hillary defeated. In the upcoming election the "Puma people" - between 4 and 9 million of her primary voters - will split as to their November Presidential vote. While Hillary''s speech has moved the vast majority into the hold your nose re DNC corruption and the theft of the nomination andl vote Obama , a much smaller group will leave the Presidential line blank, and a still smaller group will vote McCain/Palin. If the PUMA reaction does indeed elect McCain, the DNC and the MEDIA will blame racism of course, so that each can ignore their sexism amd continue the fight against a female leader - a female President.
