McCain, Obama Respond To Supreme Court Gun Ruling
From CBS News' Jamie Farnsworth:
(CINCINNATI) On the Straight Talk Express en route to his town hall event, Sen. John McCain took a moment to meet with reporters to discuss today’s Supreme Court ruling on the DC handgun case.
“Obviously I am very pleased about that decision,” he said. “We had filed an amicus brief with 54 other senators. So I am pleased with that ruling."
Sen. Barack Obama, who has a history of supporting gun control, also issued a statement today saying: “I have always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms, but I also identify with the need for crime-ravaged communities to save their children from the violence that plagues our streets through common-sense, effective safety measures. The Supreme Court has now endorsed that view, and while it ruled that the D.C. gun ban went too far, Justice Scalia himself acknowledged that this right is not absolute and subject to reasonable regulations enacted by local communities to keep their streets safe.”
McCain said this is another example of Obama’s flip-flopping on issues. “It’s one in a long in a long series in reversals of positions. In a few days he has gone from opposing nuclear power, to not a proponent, to willing to explore,” McCain said aboard the bus. “I fully anticipate -- whether it be on his pledge on public financing of his position on the 2nd amendment or any other issues -- he is changing his positions.”

Do you see what I have long said about Sen. Obama.....This hyphenated-Americans can talk on both sides of any issue and when he finishes you discover he has offered absolutely nothing that could be used to pin him down.
I suspect this paragraph of squirt Sen. Obama offers above impresses me about as much as his vast liberal knowledge of the Bible apparently impressed Dr. James Dobson a day or so back.
Time to wake up to this fact. Between the self serving vain tactics and the celebrity status and all those insane empty promises it is no wonder even blacks are questioning his crediblity. He is nothing but a POLITICIAN in the worst form. This, my friends, is inexperiance.

the point here is obama,a never makes a committment, and when he does he will change it when it looks like it will gain him votes.
I.E. Coulkd never turn away from wright or his church, he did. I would think Michelle is sweating wondering if she will be next to go under the bus.

Excellent point patriot. Michelle or any other campaign worker are clearly a single puff of wind away from feeling the wheels of that bus.
Marugarden, you and that other hyphenated-American kennyObama below should ease up on the BamaLama Kool-Aid. The dang stuff will turn you into an un-American.

Pacman, I''m a member of the GOA. A great organization that is the true polar opposite of the BradyGunGrabbers.
But many at the top of GOA remind me of a bunch of these Pauliacs who swear they will drive the bus off the cliff before they''ll settle.
However, when the choice between a poor example of a real conservative vs. the #1 most liberal nation destroyer in the whole US Senate, sorry folks but sometimes settling is required for the good of America.
No one wants to take away anyone%u2019s right to own, or even build a firearm for legal personal protection. The problem is the Right Wing abuse and misuse of the 2nd Amendment Right to collect much unnecessary weaponry far beyond the sensible use of personal protection or sport.
A Fanatical, Romantic, or even Perverse Obsession with FireArms is the problem. I agree with the Supreme Court Ruling to allow the ownership of firearms for personal protection releasing any imposed ban but, leaving the restrictions in place for the sensibility of use and abuse by criminals and gun freaks.
