Prison-Themed Board Game Could Cause Potential Obama Veep Headaches

Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius is seen as a strong contender to become presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama's running mate. But as Obama's vice presidential vetters are surely aware, a board game created by Sebelius' son – 23-year-old John – could become a campaign issue if the governor joins the ticket.

The game is called "Don't Drop The Soap," and it is, as The Capital-Journal delicately put it, an "adult-themed board game based on life in prison." The game, which was created by John Sebelius when he was a student at the Rhode Island School of Design, sells for $34.99, and is described this way on its Web site:
Fight your way through 6 different exciting locations in hopes of being granted parole. Escape prison riots in The Yard, slip glass into a mob boss' lasagna in the Cafeteria, steal painkillers from the nurse's desk in the Infirmary, avoid being cornered by the Aryans in the Shower Room, fight off Latin Kings in Gang War, and try not to smoke your entire stash in The Hole.
Harper's Magazine (subscription only) recently listed the contents of some of the cards used in the game. Among them: "You set fire to your bunk while your cellmate robs the INFIRMARY. He splits his take with you. Collect five packs." And: "You're an educated black man. You obviously didn't get paroled."

Sebelius spokeswoman Nicole Corcoran said in January that the governor and her husband, U.S. Magistrate Judge Gary Sebelius, "are very proud of their son John's creativity and talent." But the game has already caused Sebelius problems: A Kansas state senator called for an investigation into the game because he said it was being marketed and stored at the governor's mansion in violation of state law. (Corcoran noted that John Sebelius lived in the mansion at the time.) Republican Sen. Tim Huelskamp also called the game obscene and racist.

Sebelius responded by complaining that Huelskamp had made a decision to "pick on my son."

Yeah, that''s great advice - sometimes I get a little too excited and carried away on these boards! I''m trying to develop more patience because I saw the one you made before mine and thought it was very kind - however I''m not quite there yet with the patience! :o

Usually, I just turn off the computer, but yeah it''s probably more productive to just keep in mind that she''s entitled to her opinions too - even if it means she doesn''t like Barack . . . hmmm . . . okay I''ll follow your example!

Hope you''re having a nice evening! :)

Shingles, please allow me to grant you a history lesson.

The "Yellow Dog" wing of the Democrat Party began to lose it''s hold in 1961 when they buried Mr. Sam. Then in ''63 JFK was assasinated and LBJ came to power.

LBJ had to turn to the Rebublican Party to get his Civil Rights legislation passed, because folks like Al Gore''s Daddy fought like a wild man to block it.

The Democrat Party was in such a mess with all their centurist and right leaning leadership dead and a drunk in the White House who was sending our boys off to be cannon fodder that by 1968 the communist wing of the party took complete control and has ruled ever since.

But, make no mistake, it took Jimah Carter and the death of many, many old "Yellow Dogs" to wrestle the south away from the Democrat Party.

ausus - all true.
but you forgot to add that all those racist southern Democrats became Republicans in the years following Johnson''''s signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Chalk up one more OsamaObama minion willing to tell whatever lies they feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell a need, just to help their boy.

Al Gore''s Daddy never became a Republican. Robert KKK Byrd never became a Republican.

The Democrat Party had a stranglehold on the South until the old "Yellow Dog" began to die off in large numbers, and Jimah Carter demonstrated to all of us southerner boys how you couldn''t trust any Democrat, even if he was born and raised in the south.

The Democrat Party always has been, and it remains to this day the home of the KKK.

It is also the home party of NARAL, the baby butchers.

NAMBLA, the man boy lovers.

The American Communist Party.

The ACLU.

Southern Poverty Law.

And, so dang many un-American greenie weenie organization I don''t have time to detail.

brianbwb,
The Republican Party is also the party of Abraham Lincoln. For years the KKK was closely affiliated with racist southern Democrats. I am not sure if you are being bigoted or genuinely ignorant of history.

Brian has long proven himself willing to spew flat out lies on this board.

Him, Toodles and a half dozen more OsamaObama supporters on here have no trouble bending the truth to fit the yard they spew.

This Kansas Gov. would be a safe bet, since anyone who runs as VP for OsamaObama has to be in a position of ready to get out of Washington politics forever.

Can you only imagine how tough it would be for any D.C. political star to latch onto the coat tails of the #1 most liberal member in the US Senate, who also happened to be a member of a black seperatist church for the past 20 years.

A man who''s vision of "CHANGE" is to change America back to the days of Jimah Carter''s tax and spend days. A man who now admits to being scared silly over going heads up with an "Old Man" in a debate format that clearly favors the quicker witted and more experienced of the two.

No doubt, riding second chair behind the most liberal member of the Senate, who views all Americans by the percentage-American they are, with zero gravitas, and showing major cracks in maturity is without a doubt a real winning formula. ROTFLMGTBO!!!!

"Republican Sen. Tim Huelskamp also called the game obscene and racist."

Funny, Huelskamp belongs to the party of the kkk, aryan nations, David Duke, the Pats, Buchanan and Robertson, Bush, Limbaugh, Novak, Hannity, and other such sociopaths, and dares call a game designer racist.

As a "Black" man, I find the line "You''re an educated black man. You obviously didn''t get paroled." to be a sarcastic observation that is actually quite funny, but it might have been even funnier if it had also read, "and because you are educated, you probably won''t..."

Well you obviously give a rip about what I say if you keep trying to start conversations with me. If you don''t value my opinion then why waste your time commenting on my comments - that''s stupid.

I''ll answer anybody who answers me . . .

As for you only insulting people who haven''t insulted you, but not fighting back against people who have insulted you - personally I think that makes you look like a doormat and a bully, but that''s just my opinion. Wimpy but hostile behavior imo . . . if you don''t give a rip, and just ignore me . . .

Rowdy....I watched them read the articles of impeachment against bush the other day on CSPAN. There were 35 of them and it took 5 hours to read them all. I knew he and his bunch had done some bad stuff but I didn''t realize until I heard them just how MUCH they have done. To me this is a major news story but there hasn''t been a single word about it in the MSM. Why? Please don''t go off on me, I just wanted to bring you up to speed on this. Notice I did not use the "o" word.

alicerea1....My goodness girl..you''re just full of hate to even try to talk to. I''m so glad I''m not you. It must be a terrible burdon to have to carry all that stuff around inside yourself. Have you even considered what may happen if Obama wins. Your health could be in serious danger. Please try to calm down a bit. This is an important election but is isn''t the end of the world. I''m not trying to be a smart arse here it''s just that I have not seen a post as angry as yours. I know, I can kiss your arse. There I said it for you so you don''t have to work up more hatred toward me.

Xlib....Thanks for your post. I got quite a laugh out of it. You are certainly a master of sarcasm. Maybe we should do a little more research on our candidates. If we do enough we can probably impeach both of them before the election. I find it interesting that you find all sorts of things to throw at Obama but you never mention anything about McCain''s past. He is not the sterling fellow you seem to think he is. But I think all this will come out in debates and in the news between now and the election. So keep up the good work, my friend. We''ll just wait and see where the cards fall. No hard feelings. Live long and prosper.
