Clinton Ad Casts Pundits As Out of Touch

(CBS)

From CBS News’ Ryan Corsaro:

LOS ANGELES -- Hillary Clinton released a new ad in Oregon today that casts political pundits as out of touch with what voters in that state care about.

The ad, entitled “What’s Right,” suggests that voters should ignore “pundits in Washington” and shows video of ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, and Tim Russert.

“In Washington, they talk about who's up and who's down,” the ad’s announcer says. “In Oregon, we care about what's right and what's wrong.”

The ad goes on to list Clinton’s proposals to end No Child Left Behind, create a universal healthcare system, and says she opposed a Bush energy bill to control liquefied gas sites on Oregon’s coast.

The ad highlights a frustration the Clinton campaign is suffering from as they try to continue to gain support through the six primaries running up to June 3rd – the date through which she has vowed to stay in the race. The Clinton campaign has become increasingly aggravated with members of the media who deduce that she has little chance of regaining her lead in the delegate count and pulling ahead of Senator Obama.

After last week’s primaries in North Carolina and Indiana, “Meet the Press” moderator Tim Russert declared that Barack Obama would ultimately win his party’s nomination based on the results in those states, saying “we now know who the Democratic nominee will be.” Clinton lost North Carolina and only won Indiana by a small margin.

After a night of speaking with fundraisers and asking for financial support in Los Angeles, Clinton travels to Eugene, Junction City, Salem, and Portland, Oregon, today to hold public campaign events. She will participate in a televised town hall meeting this evening with a local Portland television station in advance of Tuesday’s primary, where 52 delegates are up for grabs.

Tomorrow she will hold events in Kentucky, which also goes to the polls Tuesday, and has 51 delegates.

Media commentators have been saying the Clinton should exit the race, even though it is pretty much even. Does corporate media have an agenda? Do they want McCain to face Obama, so he can swift boat him? Sure would be good for ratings, ad revenue and big business.

WAKE UP DEMOCRATS%u2026..Pls don%u2019t be fooled by a rookie car salesman (OBAMA). Why we can not trust this rookie? As Democrats, YOU need to figure it out. He is an empty suit, and just a talker. This rookie can say anything to get elected. If he is the Democratic nominee, the Republican machine will eat him alive.

A vote or endorsement for this rookie car salesman is a vote/endorsement for WRIGHT, REZKO, AYERS, AND FARAHKHAN%u2026..OBAMA is dishonest and disgrace. He does not deserve my vote! WAKE UP DEMOCRATS, %u2026

VOTE for Hillary, she has the strength and experiences, please don%u2019t waste your vote!

It may be Hillary who is out of touch....not the pundits. It was Chris Matthews, among others, who championed her ad nauseam before this. Now she is asking the voters not to watch them? What a piece of work she is.

Because superdelegates will make up around 20 percent of 4,000 delegates to the Democratic convention in August--Republicans don''t have superdelegates%u2014Clinton and Obama are aggressively wooing the more than 400 superdelegates who haven''t yet made up their minds. Since 2005 Obama has given 52 of the undecided superdelegates a total of at least $363,900, while Clinton has given a total of $88,000 to 15 of them. Anticipating that their intense competition for votes in state primaries and caucuses will result in a near-tie going into the nominating convention, the two candidates are making personal calls to superdelegates now, or are recruiting other big names to do so on their behalf. With no specific rules about what can and can''t be done to court these delegates, just about anything goes.

I am awake... And that is why I will vote for a Democrat (Hillary or Barack) in November. With all the negative comments that are exchanged between Obamacrats and Clintonistas we forget that both candidates have successfully reached out to millions of americans. I love this country and all that it represents. and Somewhere along this race I lost site of that and felt that I would vote for McCain simply because my candidate doesn''t earn the nomination. The general election is ours (Democrats) to lose. If we all don''t wake up and start healing our wounds/uniting behind one candidate, a lost general election is exactly what we''ll have. Democrats "WAKE UP" and unite!

I now have it from two three sources close to senior Republicans that they have video dynamite%u2013Michelle Obama railing against %u201Cwhitey%u201D at Jeremiah Wright%u2019s church. Republicans may have a lousy record when it comes to the economy and the management of the war in Iraq, but they are hell on wheels when it comes to opposition research. Someone took the chance and started reviewing the recordings from services at Jeremiah Wright%u2019s United Church of Christ. Holy smoke!! I am told there is a clip that is being held for the fall to drop at the appropriate time. The last thing Barack and Michelle need is a new clip that raises further questions about her judgment and temperament. Here%u2019s what the Republicans are currently using in Tennessee:

Who is the out of touch person who decided to play the experienced insider strategy in a year the public wants change and to skip the small caucus states in the campaign.

Duh? Hillary is singing to the chior. Unless you have not tasted the confusion of puberty, then you may not yet realize that ALL pundits are out of touch. You don''t qualify unless you are out of touch. So... how many blabbering idiots are out there trying to spin their brand of BULL? And the ones who try to pass on that elitest holier than thou *** are truly embarrasing. But Then... these pundits, some of them, are laughing all the way to the bank. I think it has something to do with P.T. Barnum.

It would be UN-Demoratic to not count the votes in Michigan and Florida.

It would be UN-Democratic to not seat their Delegates.

It would be UN-Democratic to not give Hillary Clinton the Delegates proportionate to the votes that she won.

It would be an insult to our intelligence to suggest a 50/50 split or anything less than the delegates Hillary Clinton was given by the vote of the people.

We are well aware that Barack Obama went out of his way to remove his name from the Michigan ballet in an attempt to nullify our votes.

We are well aware that Obama contacted his campaign workers in Michigan and had them urge voters to mark the "none of the above" box on the ballet. He asked them to hold rallys and make radio announcements in an attempt to steal votes from Hillary Clinton.

We are aware that thousands of Hillary Clinton supporters did not even vote in response to being told their vote would not count.

We are well aware that it was Obama himself who denied Michigan and Florida the chance to have a re-vote.

Don''t make us the Democratic Party that decided the American Flag would go back to having only 48 stars.

I heard some very troubling news today...I read that the GOP have some very damaging material in their "ruin the democrat" play book that they plan to bring out in October. Apparently, they have some sort of video footage of Michelle obama talking in Rev. Wright''''s church about "whitey" (meaning the white folks). OMG...if this is true, us Democrats are screwed!! We seriously need to nominate Hillary while we still can. GOP is planning on Swift boating Obama like they did Kerry!!!! HELP

Im trying to post this everywhere i can because I''m scared sh*tless. We have to prevent this folks!!!

Dem. Party Leaders, Super Delegates and Obama, don''''t seem to understand just how much some Democrats don''''t like Obama. Well, I can''''t speak for everyone, however, but this is how I feel.

I hated 8 years of George Bush. I was nauseous most of the time. Have you ever smelled rotting human flesh? I would rather walk into a sealed tight house in 100 degree heat that had 10 rotting dead bodies stacked up on the other side of the door and set down and eat a tuna fish and mustard sandwich...instead of having Bush in office a day longer. YET! I would rather have Bush in office the rest of my life than to have Obama in the White House for 1 day.

I realize that sounds harsh, but it looks like some of us are going to have to get a little harsh in order to shake our leadership into the reality of the situation and out of DENIAL.

We have to do whatever is needed to be done in order to get these people to take us seriously.

SO LETS DO IT PEOPLE!!!!

I can prove that the Republicans are making fools out of the Blacks.

The stuff that Obama admitted to in the two books he

wrote is enough to lose him the election. But has

anyone heard anything about either of these writings

by a major National Television Station????

NO! Because they are setting on it until Hillary is

out of the picture and Obama will lose the Presidency

by the largest margine yet. And anyone who can''''t

see that and continues to believe otherwise after

reading those two books are being FOOLISH!!!!

NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY BY THE DNC

Action speaks louder than words. I was on another

web site last night and the Hillary supporters were

talking about REGISTERING AS REPUBLICANS AND NOT

COMING BACK TO THE PARTY UNTIL HILLARY GETS THE

NOMINATION.

This way it would be harder for the DNC to just

brush us off by saying we''''ll eventually all rally

around Obama......No Way, Nobama!!

I''m going tomorrow and register as a Republican. If

you''re not already registered as a Democrat, you can

first register as a Democrat and a day or two later,

register as a Republican. It will show up as a lost

member on the Democratic Membership Roll by the

end of the week.

Sounds like a plan to me!!
