North Carolina Republicans Use Wright Controversy In New Ad

North Carolina Republicans have unveiled an ad labeling Barack Obama "too extreme" for the state – and hammering two Democratic gubernatorial candidates for endorsing him.

The spot, which you can watch here, opens with an announcer saying, "For 20 years Barack Obama sat in his pew, listening to his pastor." That controversial pastor, Jeremiah Wright, is then shown saying "No, no, no. Not God Bless America. God Damn America."

"Now, Bev Perdue and Richard Moore endorse Barack Obama," the announcer continues. "They should know better. He's just too extreme for North Carolina."

The Charlotte Observer writes that the ad "is believed to be the first time nationwide that Republicans have used Wright's comments in a TV advertisement since the comments first drew scrutiny last month."

Presumptive GOP nominee John McCain has sent a letter to North Carolina Republican Party Chair Linda Daves asking her not to run the ad.

In his letter, which was sent to reporters, McCain writes, "The television advertisement you are planning to air degrades our civics and distracts us from the very real differences we have with the Democrats."

"This ad does not live up to the very high standards we should hold ourselves to in this campaign," he adds, calling on Daves to "withdraw this offensive advertisement."

Whatever TRUTHS there are about any one of the three candidates, let them come out for everyone to see. Why hide these things? We are trying to clear up corruption and fraud and dishonesty and lack of ethics in our government. Let us know about these people that want to be our president so, we can make an intelligent decision
and choose the most DESERVING of the three before we make another "Bush"mistake. WHY, WHY do you the press, want to hide these things? What are we the people out here, just a herd of cattle that has to go the way you shove us?? Come on now!! If it wasn''t for us, you would not be in business. So, give us the respect of choosing our president ourselves. We don''t need you to choose for us.

Did you know a pastor said God damns America, and sent a hurricane to whipe out New Orleans?

Of course not. That was McCain''s pastor:

This is disgusting propaganda from the right-wing... all of the more reason to wrest their political hegemony away from them in all corners and safehavens across the country. Perhaps Bill Clinton will jump into this and blame it on Obama, or maybe Hillary will obtain their endorsement...

For all of you about to vote in this primary please pray or meditate deeply upon the possibility of dismantling the neo-cons from your state. The rest of us are behind you.

IF WE START ASSOCIATING EVERY WORD A FRIEND OR ASSOCIATE OR CHURCH GOER OF WHITE MALES IN AMERICA - NONE OF THEM WOULD BE QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT. THIS IDEA THAT OBAMA MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR EVERYTHING A DUMB BLACK PERSON SAYS IS IN ITSELF RACIST. WE DO NOT SAY JESSE HELMS SPOKE FOR ALL WHITES, WE DO NOT SAY TONY PERKINS SPEAK FOR ALL WHITES. HILLARY WENT ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL WITH SPRITZER DOES SHE CONDONE HIS BEHAVIOR? - HER OWN HUSBAND HAS RAPPED WOMEN SINCE 1969, WHY DIDNT SHE DIVORSE HIM? IS SHE GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION?

I was for Obama 2 months ago. But after realizing that Obama is the most farout socialist pro-black elitist, I decided to do my best to make sure we dont have a president that will have influence and been brain washed for 20 years. Say no to Obama and for what he stands for.

I clearly can see that Obama
has Perfect Judgement from Day 1, first he asked Wright to be on his Religious Advisory Board, then he disowned him? What a benedict arnold he has been to his church and Mr. Wright.

Mr. Wright has the right to believe anything he likes about America, but to preach it from the pulpit to hate America, not only should he be taxed, but he needs to ask for forgiveness from our country before we can move on. Birds of a feather do flock together.

McCain... he is such a political wimp.

Hillary & Obama either one will destroy him without a second thought. They will do whatever it takes.

While he sheepishly stands by and says... but can''t we all get along?

When you sit under a Pastor for 20 years, call him your spiritual mentor, have him perform your wedding, have him baptize your kids...

You cannot have significant disagreements with him on any significant issue.

Only those who DON''T go to church could say otherwise. ALL those who do, know that they would not sit there.... PERIOD.

THIS IS A VALID POLITICAL AD. IT IS TRUE. AND IT IS RELEVANT TRUTH.

North Carolina''s Republican Party has a big problem.

They haven''t won a state race other than state auditor in 15 years. They''re a minority in both houses of the General Assembly.

I guess it''s time to throw the Hail Mary pass of swiftboating since they can''t win on the issues.
They can''t effectively run against the recent scandals of Democrats in the G.A. because the Democratic leadership has been proactive in weeding out and censuring the bad apples.

This isn''t so much aimed at Obama as it''s aimed to help them in the Gubanatorial race. It won''t.

Most Republican voters in NC today are socially moderate and fiscally conservative. In other words, the kinds of people Obama has been appealing to. The conservatives have lost control of their own party.

What I think is that North Carolina is too extreme for the rest of the US. John McCain asked them not to run that ad, but in NC, the Republican slime machine is in full swing, just like it was against McCain in 2000. Frankly, during the civil war, I think we should have just allowed North Carolina to succeed. Then we as Americans wouldn''t have to apologize for them.

The North Carolina Republicans are correct; Obama is too unpratriotic, too friendly with anti-American, anti-White, anti-Jewish people, and those 2 democratic members of congress from North Carolina should be called on the line for supporting Obama without doing their due diligence on Obama.

OBAMA filled in a liberal survey form which reflects his extremist position. Although he denied all that , yet his handwriting on the paper indicated he was fully aware of it. He is just afraid of losing the election by telling the truth to the voters.

He didn''t change CHICAGO POLITICS.
He didn''t change REZKO''S corruptive schemes.
He even persuade REZKO to help him buy his dream house.
He lied three times about the money that REZKO raised for him. Everytime he gave a different amount.
He has been in the ''Trinity Church'' for 20 years and denies that he heard about Rev Wright''s speech until he suddenly retired.
This new politician on the block stinks.

He is more negative than Hillary now. He is telling lies on TV ads.

HOw can he bring changes to America. He even runs away from debates. He is afraid of fair fights. Without his supporters, he is scared.

if McCain wins get ready for the draft, because they have run out of volunteers to fight that silly war they will never win in Iraq. We need to get out of there, it is another Vietnam, a lost cause. America is tanking over some country that has screamed at us to get lost. They want us out. What are we saving them from? Hint hint they want us to leave and here we are trying to play big brother, we need to take a hint and come home.

If it were not for Republicans like John McCain I would ask why some blacks even bother with the party at all when some of its members are so racist. In fact gestures like Senator McCain''s endear him to people level minded people of any race. He is playing a different kind of politics. So refreshing and unRepublican.
I would vote for him just because of his new style of politics, politics of change.
