Clinton Heads Back to Pennsylvania

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

WASHINGTON -- Hillary Clinton makes her way to Pennsylvania today to continue her “Solutions for the American Economy Tour,” midway through Barack Obama’s six-day bus tour of that state. For weeks, Clinton has been the likely candidate to win Pennsylvania, and polls show her up by double-digits there. But one thing the Clinton campaign can’t afford to happen is a come-from-behind win by Obama, a move that would most certainly seal the deal for Obama to capture the nomination.

Clinton has campaigned in Pennsylvania over the past 2 weeks, but the intensity of that campaigning has been nothing quite like the "Iowa-style" grind where candidates spent weeks on end canvassing the state. Both time and money are a factor for Clinton’s efforts in Pennsylvania, but Clinton has pointed out several times that she will continue to push through the state until its April 22 primary.

But with growing pressure from some in the media and others in her party to drop out of the race, Clinton has employed a new strategy over the past few days in hopes of defusing that pressure. She has been using that argument as a way of rallying support from voters in states that have yet to vote.

Part of her stump speech now includes a line on how “some people” want this race to be over, and how “some people” don’t want everyone’s voices heard. The line, naturally, draws a negative reaction from the crowd, many of whom have yet to have an opportunity to cast a decisive vote in a presidential primary. Clinton hopes this argument will cast her opponents as anti-democratic and quick to discount the voices of the several million people left to vote in the upcoming 10 contests. With the nomination in flux and with Clinton trailing Obama by fewer than 150 pledged delegates, the contest will most certainly continue.

Clinton is expected to continue to make that point during her campaign stops, but she knows that only a win in Pennsylvania will help stave off further criticism for her to step aside in the race. A source close to the Clinton campaign said they feel confident in Pennsylvania, but they are faced with having to split their time between Pennsylvania and Indiana, a state where Obama currently leads in the polls.

“Pennsylvania will be a contest to watch. We have to balance that effort with campaigning in Indiana, where Obama has the lead,” said the campaign source. “Obama is clearly contesting Pennsylvania, and he should be expected to do well there. He is spending a lot of time and money in the state and now has Senator Casey stumping for him.”

Mt. Rushmore Conversation:

President Washington: We are at war in two hotspots around the world.

President Jefferson: Yes, George, so let''s hope the American people vote smart this year.

President Lincoln: Agreed, Tom. This election cannot afford to have the American people entrust their lives into the hands of just anybody.

President Roosevelt: Have to agree with all of you, especially George''s comments about our involvement in two wars, which means America needs a Commander in Chief who is akin to the Rough Riders I lead; so, let''s hope America knows the difference between a Commander-in-Chief as opposed to a Commander-in-Chef. Aprons have their place in the kitchen, but the next president is in no position to conduct foreign policy donned in an apron standing over a batch of cookies in her cake mixing bowl.

Hillary must continue to fight on in the race, never ever give, it''s seems like the DNC want''s to throw Hilary under the bus for an Jr. Sentaor who just came on the scene a couple of years ago preaching hope, change, unity, and a different politics without the experience or qualifactions to back up his campaign promises or words.

If Hillary is not the nominee after this process is over, I will be staying home or voting for Ralph Nader, defininatly not John McCain, or Obama.

Remember it was Hillary who said her daughter Chelsea was jogging around the World Trade Center on 9-11----when she was actually in bed watching the news reports.

It was Hillary who told us she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, the first to climb Mt. Everest. He climbed it five years after she was born.

She didn''t know that her brother was being paid to secure pardons from her husband.

She was always a Yankees fan while growing up in Chicago.

She negotiated the release of refugees in Macedonia%u2026even though they were released the day before she arrived there.

And%u2026among other things%u2026.she didn''t know that her White House staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so.

All examples of the kind of double-talk that the Clintons engage in. If their lips are moving%u2026they are likely telling you something that isn''t entirely the truth.

And what happened on the day that Senator Clinton was lambasted on her incorrect recollection of Bosnia?

She told reporters she couldn%uFFFDt stay in a church headed by someone like Jeremiah Wright.

In other words----"don''t ask me about mythical bullets when you can ask Obama about his real life preacher."

Hillary Hillary Hillary - What happened to those Travelgate Records? Where are your 2000 - 2007 income tax statements? Just because Mrs Williams, Chelsae, Geraldine, Wild Bill, Redneck Rendell, Sandy Berger, are volunteers what happened to the 200,000,000 that you''''''''re campaign has raised?

Time to get with the program. Should have that doctor of yours change your meds or start taking some. Don''''''''t expect Mrs. Williams to straighten out your house. Her track record is about as unconviencing as yours.

WASHINGTON %u2013 Hillary Clinton spends considerable time on the campaign trail bemoaning unscrupulous lenders who have left millions of Americans scrambling to keep their homes but all the while her campaign manager, Margaret %u201CMaggie%u201D Williams, has sat on the board of one of the nation%u2019s once-largest and now-bankrupt sub-prime mortgage lenders.

Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson told FOXNews.com late Sunday that Williams, a longtime Clinton ally, didn%u2019t join Clinton%u2019s Democratic presidential campaign as a volunteer until after Delta Financial Corporation %u2014 for which Williams is a director %u2014 went bankrupt in December 2007.

with regard to hillarymann''s post:

while i''d love for barack obama to take the nomination, come november, i will support the democratic candidate. barack or hillary--end of sentence. that one might see a vote for ralph nadar as better spent than one for obama worries me. hillary and her supporters seem to be fueling division within the party. ultimately, it may end up being more costly than i''d like to think.

ccfsdca,

Where I appreciate your sense of creativity/humor, hands down everyone of those great MEN on the face of that mountain would vote for another man, especially givn the present reality as we are engaged in not one, but two wars. And all I hear the lil'' Hillary supporters say is how she is a member of the US Senate''s Armed Service Committee. And their point is what? Lil'' Hillary is no Dwight David Eisenhower. Sorry ''bout crushing her pipedream about a woman (smirk) becoming president. Preside over her kitchen stove maybe, but leave the management of war to a man. Terrorist don''t respect or fear an apron.

The Race to the White House:

Candidate1: I''ll stop here and take out my favorite "blankie" and get in another nap. may stop to do a geritol commercial along the way too.

Candidate2: I''ll stop here, don my apron and bake a batch of brownies on my kitchen stove. May stop later to rotate the laundry and do some dusting around the house too.

Candidate3: This is just too easy(smirk).

In response to Snoopy6472:

Yes, Obama or McCain will not get my vote under any circumstances, because Hillary has not been treated fairly throughtout this race by the media, Obama Campaign,, DNC leadership,or some Democratic Party Leaders in Congress, So if Hillary is not the nominee when this process is all over I will not help unite this party around a candidate that I do not trust, or have the experience to back up his eloquent words of hope change, unity, and a different politics this is just a brillant, misleading, decpetive campaign slogan used by Obama to win votes, and nothing else, no more free rides and passes for Obama, The DNC will lose faitful supportars as well, including donations.

I was in the audience when Hillary told her story about sniper fire in Bosnia. She looked right at me at one point and began to cackle. I thought, what a brave woman she is and now she can laugh about it. Then I found out it was all a big lie.

When I learned the truth I felt I had been made a fool of. She appeared so earnest, so truthful. How could she do that? I spoke to some of my friends after the truth came out. We all agreed we would not vote for her; additionally, we have formed a group to campaign against her. I don''t know how many other lies she told, but this one she told me right to my face. I''ll never forget feeling like an idiot for believing her.

I am actually watching campaign coverage right now, and laughing at how all they can talk about Obama today is how bad a bowler he is. Or in the past about his pastor. What about lying to the country? How can either of those things Obama did ever compare to blatantly lying to the country? Even more humorous, is the fact that the Clinton''s seem to expect Obama to mess up royally and that''s how she is gonna win! If, in fact, they find a way to give Clinton the nomination despite the popular vote going to Obama, that is the point when I will change parties.

Obama is all talk no action. Obama supporters have been drinking the kool-aid. We need a problem solver like Hillary not a talker like Obama.A vote for Obama is a vote for McCain as the republicans will eat Obama for breakfast. They''ve got Wright, Farrakan, Odinga, Rezko,E.Jones, and Michelle. I can see the commercials. If you thought Kerry got "swift boated", you haven''t seen anything yet. They''ve got nothing new on Hillary. They know she''s done a solid job in the Senate. They know she''s tough and smart. Of course they want baby Obama. He''s easy to beat. He''ll be easier than John Kerry.

ksh1022 posted: Obama is all talk and no action.

You people are the ones drinking the coolaide.

Lets compare. Hillary is a flat out liar about her experience. She lied about Bosnia, Lied about opposing Nafta, Lied about Ireland. She is all talk about FAKE action and is nothing more then a first lady.

Obama is the only politian to write two books himself, thats right Hillary had someone else write hers. He wrote that race speach on his own. He was smart enough to stand up against the war because he isn''t a calculated politician, blowing whichever way the polls tell her to.

She failed her bar exam the first time out, Obama got the highest score on his in the state. She has mismanaged her campaign while Obama has run circles around her.

I can tell all you Billary supporters are the less educated.

DUUUUUUUUU her last name is CLINTON that must be good. The women is a liar liar pants suit on fire. THis race is over and I love hearing all you idiots and women wine about your stupid girl.

VOTING BECAUSE OF COLOR, CREED, OR *** AND NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO ISSUES OR WHAT THEY STAND FOR, OR WHAT THEY VOTED FOR IN THE SENATE, OR HOW MUCH CREDIBILITY THEY HAVE IS BEING FOOLISH AND UNEDUCATED. STOP BEING A VICTIM AND WANTING SOMETHING FOR NOTHING, THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU ANYTHING BUT AGGRAVATION. TRUE, BUSH IS NOT WHAT WE WANT ANYMORE, HOWEVER: MCCAIN IS FAR BETTER, MORE HONEST, AND MUCH MORE ABLE TO MAKE THE CHANGES THAN ANY OF THE TWO DUMB DEMOCRATS
