Obama Accuses Clinton of Using "Republican Tactics"

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

JACKSON, MISS. -- Barack Obama continued to go after Hillary Clinton this evening, accusing her of using “Republican tactics” against him.

“When in the midst of a campaign you decide to throw the kitchen sink at your opponent because you’re behind,” he said, “and your campaign starts leaking photographs of me when I’m traveling overseas wearing the native clothes of those folks to make people afraid, and then you run an ad talking about who’s going to answer the phone at three in the morning, an ad straight out of the Republican playbook, that’s not real change.”

Tonight's comments were the most direct criticism from Obama regarding the distribution of the photo of him in traditional African garb. The Clinton campaign denied having anything to do with the photos when they were initially published, and the issue seemed to have faded until Obama brought it up tonight.

The two Democratic contenders have ramped up the rhetoric in recent weeks. Last Thursday, Clinton’s campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson accused Obama of using “Ken Starr”-type tactics, alluding to the independent counsel that led to the impeachment of Bill Clinton. The Clinton campaign was upset about Obama’s camp pushing reporters to ask about the Clinton’s tax returns. The Obama campaign called those allegations “absurd.”

A large crowd of mostly supporters booed whenever Obama mentioned Clinton’s name. As he often does, Obama began his criticism of Clinton by expressing his respect for her. However, despite the polite introduction, he quickly turned on her, saying that she accepts money from lobbyists, wavered on NAFTA, and is part of the status quo in Washington.

“Everybody always asks 'well, how come you haven’t already wrapped this up? Well, it’s because there are a lot of very powerful people who are doing very well under the existing system,” he said. “So they resist. They’ve got power and they’ve got money. But what we’ve got are the American people.”

Let''s put this racist nonsense to rest immediately. I am a white person. Contrary to what the media and Ferraro promote, this election is not about race. I would vote for the HEART & MIND that is Sen. Obama if it were in a white, or Asian, or Native American, etc. of either gender. Sen. Obama is the real deal, and I pretty much feel sorry for people who choose to consider this election in terms of race. I am a person who happens to be white who supports the candidacy of a person who happens to be black.

Hillary use every trick including the very dirty. She is just bent on spinning us all but thank God Americans are wiser now. She agreed not to campaign in Florida but went ahead to do just that and claimed it was Fund-Raising! Now she wants the delegates? We are not fooled.

Obama accuses Hillary - WHAT! Whose campaign came up with four erroneous and inflamatory pages of garbage that they intended to throw at Hillary until they were called on it during the debates? Answer: OBAMA. Who lied repeatedly in an effort to ingratiate himself among members of the black community? Answer: OBAMA. Read it for yourself - http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/saywhat.asp

Of course Hillary uses Republican Tactics. Hillary Rodham Clinton learned all she knows of Republican Tactics from her father, Republican Senator Rodham. Like fahter, like daughter. A chip off the old block. You can take the girl out of the Republican party, but you cannot take the Republican DNA out of the girl.

I have not seen anything about obama that will make me vote for him. He:
1. is naive
2. a wimp
3. deals in double talk
4. is too obsessed with self image
5. exploits racial undertones
6. is arrogant
7. has poorly thought out plans for health care, Iraq, economy.

If not Hillary, let it be McCain, so be it.

I read these pages and I see raw emotion--where is the thought before the blog? I go to every site indicated in these blogs and read for myself. I go to factchecker.org to get the truth on spin. I do not want to make a mistake in choosing this president. I challenge others to do the same. I will not give my candidate''s name--only plead that others research for themselves. The media lost objectivity years ago. There is not Cronkite to give the facts. Find them for yourself--A real search will lead you to my candidate.

Clinton''s fraud trial has already begun:
"While Hillary Clinton battles Barack Obama on the campaign trail, a judge in Los Angeles is quietly preparing to set a trial date in a $17 million fraud suit that aims to expose an alleged culture of widespread corruption by the Clintons and the Democratic Party."

And what about her top adviser?:
Mark Penn is not just a heavy hitting PR person, he''s an uscrupulous PR person, giving advice to clients such as the tobacco industry, instructing them on how to target inner city minorities via smokers rights groups, blackwater on how to effectively respond to questions from the 911 commission, and advising subprime lending groups on how to move forward with their agendas and deflect fallout.

Obama clearly voted present all those times to avoid leaving a trail that his opponents could use to attack him. To me, that''s an exhibition of extreme ambition and a lack of commitment which sets a lot of warning flags flying. The Rezko thing is another red flag.

I don''t think he''s ready to be president yet. I think he has a lot to learn. I''m not voting for him. Period.

Wish all those Obama backers who keep harping at others to do their "homework" would do theirs on Obama''s dirty tactics in Illinois. Check out how he became a State Senator. Check out how he got to "sponsor" and take credit for other Senators'' bills, thereby inflating his "accomplishments". Check out how he got to be a U.S. Senator, by using his false accomplishments, dirty tricks against the opposition, and the bragadocious support of the same powerful Illinois State Senator who engineered his getting credit for other Senators'' bills. Obama may be about CHANGE now, when it is a hugely popular and desirable issue, but he has been just another down-and-dirty politician, and undoubtedly still is. Do your homework!! AlphaOverdawg. Semper Fi!!

I hear they have found traces of anti-depressants in the water - affecting 41 million Americans. All I can say is that is Clinton wins the Presidency they bet up the dose they add to the water.

voteforthebest: What a load of rubbish. Obama has been asked plenty of hard questions by the press and has had to endure horrible smear emails circulating as well. Don''t for a minute think that poor old Hillary is losing because the press have been nicer to Obama. If Hillary acts badly or underhanded - which from what I can see is par for the course - then she will get negative press. What does she expect? That she can act anyway that she likes without consequence?

Hillary as a person appears to me as an ultra-competitive egoist, nothing more than a wheeler-dealer who takes presidency as her entitlement. Huh!

She has zero ability to excite people about a future and change which is badly needed for USA to be truly be the most admired nation. She is a tactical operative instead of a strategic thinker and executive leader. As Obama points out it takes judgement to lead.

Having said all of these, I also think that her heart has been with the poor and downtrodden" is biggest "fairy-tale", because she behaved disrespectfully at Mother Teresa''s funeral when she was sent as USA''s state representative. Unlike other heads of states, who personally offered flower garlands,
Hillary asked an aide to throw the flower garland with left hand! What an arrogance ! How can she claim she understands poor people when she did not understand Mother Teressa? How can she claim foriegn policy experience of a commander-in-chief when she does not have sensitivity to cultures abroad? It looks to me her qualifications for a foreign policy leader and commander-in-chief will be no better than arrogance of Bush-Cheney regime.

We want change, not just from Bush republicans but also from the shameless operatives like the Clintons.

Obama keep whining that Hillary is throwing the kitchen sink at him. His problem is he has no backbone, and thought he could be underhanded and have supporters trash Hillary 24/7, while he matians he is a "nice guy". It''s underhanded and naive.

Obama is used to being the "Star" and has no patience for hard work. For the longest time, Obama was given the "pillow treatment" by the press in part because early on Obama, with no justification said that Hillary was a racist. His message resonated loud and clear with the Press, treat me with kid gloves or I will accuse the press of racism. He had it easy at first.

Obama is running scared, and wants to be back on top. Seems to me if you can''t take the heat, get out of the kitchen, and try going back to the Senate, and doing the job he promised to do for the people of Illinois which was serve out his term as a Senator. Work for change rather than just talk about it, and expect to run for President and have it be a slam dunk.

Now Obama says he won''t be VP. Well she respected him enough to ask, and he declined, so don''t whine later when she wins.

Ploitics is no place for a show boater with thin skin, and no patience for climbing the ladder.
''
You may have the popular vote today, but that can easily change after Pennsylvania. I don''t think Obama is ready to be President and neither does Hillary, she''s under pressure from the DNCC, but Obama declined VP, and I think Obama would drag down Democrat chances at a win against McCain.

Finally! When you are standing for Hope and the Future and someone comes along behaving poorly, you have to address their behavior in an adult manner. Hilllary runs with scissors, does not play well with others. If we want a Republican, we will vote for a real one, not DLC Republican Lite.

How they behave is an indicator of what kind of President they will be. If they act like they are somehow entitled to be President, they won''t listen to what the people want when they get to office.

Forget the Republican dirty tricks. Vote for a person like Kennedy and King, not someone like Rove or Cheney

Obama and his supporters are the ones who have engaged in personal insults and threats to Hillary and her supporters for many months from painting Bill Clinton''s years in the same bad light as the Bush, using the race card to pressure leaders such as John Lewis to switch his vote (i.e., Lewish can''t stand the way of a black man...), calling Hillary a monster, etc..

The media, as usual, is not doing its job, with questioning Obama.

Hillary asks all the questions that we, the voters, should want to know: who is more ready to run the country, who has more experience, etc...

The bulk of the negative press (finally!) that Obama had were of his own advisors doing (Nafta-gate and monster-gate) and his continuous refusal to answer about his relationships and how much $ he gets from Rezko.

I''ve got to say that I''ve read all sorts of smears about Obama on the net and it seems to me that I see the same names of those who consistently post in favor of Clinton everywhere (paid bloggers?) encouraging these smear sites. I''ve also got to say that from watching the Clinton tactics since New Hampshire I am under no illusion as to how dirty they play the game and it would not surprise me one iota if they were fully encouraging Republican style smear tactics behind the scenes.

Obama keeps demanding Hillary''s tax returns and she doesn''t need to file them until April 15.

What I''m curious about is how much Obama is making on this Campaign Book tour of his. Everey time I google Obama his 3 books come up first.

Try going to Yahoo Answers and read how presumable young Obama, supporters tarsh Hillary, nonstop 24/7 withn such nonsense as, "The Clintons ar e a Death Squad" and Hillary and Spitzer are running a prostitution ring in NY. They claim it is in the News. What a joke? No one will believe such nonsense. What seems clear, because they all say the same things is that there is some kind of Obama Play book for trashing Hillary with lies and slander like the above.

Obama said in a debate he can''t help if Farakhan thinks, "He;s a nice guy" well he clearly will stoop to anything to stop Hillary, all the while maintaining he does not go Negative, and he is a different kind of politician, he sure sounds Negative, and his supporters are like a squad of character assassinations pros. Is this like the Bush team, Bush the frontman appears "likable" and Cheney is the "Monster"
