Busted: Our Bias Revealed

We are sometimes accused of having bias in our news coverage. An observant viewer, incensed about one story in particular, e-mailed us last night, and called us on it.

The way the stingray incident was portrayed on the Evening News prompted me to contact you. Talk about putting a slant on something. To say the stingray attacked the man in the boat is absurd.

The creature was probably trying to get away from a fish looking for dinner. The Ray leaps out of the water and into a small boat. Bad luck for the Ray and the people in the boat. Katie Couric, who I like, states it attacked the man while he was trying to get the Ray out of the boat. I would think the Ray was as frantic as the man.

Why is this not portrayed as " talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time"? It is this type of broadcasting that scares people. Next there will be an out break of people killing stingrays. These are docile creatures. Are the networks so desperate for news? ...

I am disappointed in Katie Couric and CBS News for a lack of professionalism.

To address this appalling lack of balance in our coverage, we're now negotiating with a stingray to appear on "freeSpeech," and tell their side of the story. Stay tuned.
