Jaren Lockhart stripper murder probe won't be derailed by federal case in N.C., investigator says
(CBS/AP) NEW ORLEANS - An investigator says he's not worried that a suspect connected to the death and dismemberment of 22-year-old New Orleans stripper Jaren Lockhart may soon be transferred to North Carolina for a different crime.
Hancock County Mississippi investigator Glenn Grannon said the federal charge against 39-year-old Terry Christopher Speaks won't affect the probe into the murder of Lockhart, whose body parts washed ashore in Mississippi last week.
In federal court in New Orleans on Friday, Speaks opted not to fight detention or transfer to North Carolina, where he faces a federal charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
Speaks and 28-year-old Margaret Sanchez were arrested earlier last week in Louisiana's Tangipahoa Parish on charges unrelated to Lockhart's death. Both have been named suspects but neither has been charged in her death.
