FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The young cancer patient who loved TCU baseball and rooted them on during the College World Series last month, has died.

Micah Ahern, 7, had been battling neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer, since August 2010.

He had recently gone into hospice care.

Back in January 2014 , the TCU baseball team adopted Micah as an honorary Horned Frog.

Micah's mother, Linda posted tonight, "Micah is no longer suffering. He is healed and whole. I praise God for that. Now we all are left here to mourn the loss of The Great Superhero."

In June she posted on Caring Bridge, "I've never seen any person endure such suffering with such a positive attitude. Micah celebrates life everyday no matter his circumstances. He always has. We could all learn a lesson from the bravest little boy that ever lived."

The TCU baseball team sported an "M" on their caps in honor of Micah during the Super Regionals.

Coach Jim Schlossnagle said at the time, "Regardless of what the prognosis is, he is truly a part of everything we do whether he is here or not. And that won't change. Ever."
