Young Man With Down Syndrome Plays Drums For Big Crowd

WAXAHACHIE (CBSDFW.COM) - A young man with Down Syndrome - but importantly, talent - shined in the spotlight Saturday night.

Dane Porter is a 20-year-old senior at Waxahachie High School. CBS 11 News first brought you Dane's story in April.

His parents say it was hard to get him into music classes, but Dane was able to fit right into a WHS percussion class.

Dane loves to play the drums, according to his mom, Robin Porter.

Then came his big break. Dane was invited to play with the WHS band.

Dane made his debut performance at the school's April pep rally for the Special Olympics (VIDEO BELOW).
