DALLAS (AP) - A new show at the Dallas Museum of Art features works from a rarely exhibited private collection of Islamic art.

The exhibit titled "Spirit and Matter: Masterpieces from the Keir Collection" opens Friday. The show, which runs through July 31, features more than 50 works from the Keir Collection, which has started arriving in Dallas this year on a 15-year loan.

The collection, assembled over the course of five decades by Hungarian-born lawyer Edmund de Unger, includes almost 2,000 works spanning three continents and 13 centuries. The Islamic cultural items include objects made from rock crystal, metalwork, ceramics, textiles, carpets and works on paper.

This exhibit will be the first of many that present different areas of the collection.
