Wrong-way crash on SH 114 in Irving leaves one dead, another seriously injured, authorities say
A wrong-way crash on State Highway 114 near Freeport Parkway left one person dead and another seriously hurt on Friday night, according to the City of Irving.
Police say the crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. when a vehicle heading the wrong way — eastbound in the westbound lanes — hit another car head-on near Irving's western city limits. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.
Driver killed, another critically injured
In a news release, the city said the driver going the wrong way died at the scene. The other driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition by the Grapevine Fire Department.
Westbound lanes of SH 114 were closed for several hours but have since reopened.
Authorities are still notifying the family of the person who died.
