Missing Waxahachie 12-year-old found, AMBER Alert canceled

Law enforcement gives update after Waxahachie 12-year-old found

NORTH TEXAS - According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a missing 12-year-old has been found.

An AMBER Alert was issued for the Waxahachie girl Thursday morning. Police believed the girl could have been in very serious danger. The Waxahachie Police Department had been working with the North Texas Trafficking Task Force to find her.

An AMBER Alert was also issued for her back in July 2023.

Police say it was an anonymous tip that led them to find the girl Friday morning.

Homeland Security investigators say she was found alone in a motel in a high-crime area.

"When officer is knocked on the door, she opened the door," HSI Special Agent John Perez said. "She was cooperating with law enforcement. There was no alterations or confrontations with her. We immediately took her into safety"

CBS News Texas asked if this was a runaway or trafficking case – law enforcement said it's an ongoing investigation.

No arrests have been made.
