DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A water main break caused the city auto pound in West Dallas to stop releasing vehicles, causing frustration and confusion for many.
Dallas Police said the water main break happened on the 600 block of West Commerce Street, disrupting phone lines tin the process.
Tow truck drivers were still able to drop off cars, but no one with a vehicle inside the auto pound could access or pick up their car.
"Just the fact at this day and age, you know with websites you could have posted something on the website easily," said Monica Gonzalez, who tried to pick up her vehicles on Monday. "I would have come back tomorrow and dealt with it. Instead I spent the whole day and it's a waste, I still have to come back tomorrow."
Crews with AT&T worked late into the night trying to resolves the situation.
Police could not specify when the repairs would be finished and when computers at the auto pound would be back online.
DPD said it will waive any fees for anyone with a vehicle inside the pound who is unable to get it out during the duration of the outage.
