Warm is the Trend
The cold front that came thru north Texas yesterday afternoon has set us up for a great Saturday. Lots of sunshine today and low humidity, great football weather for the Red River Showdown in Dallas and the UNT game in Denton
High pressure to our northwest is bringing in a north wind today. As the high moves to the east we get into a warming south/southwest wind tomorrow.
What this means much warmer weather tomorrow. Highs today in the low 80's, highs tomorrow near the mid-90's with a brisk southwest wind:
Not much rain since July 1st and our deluge of Spring (we had the wettest May on record). No significant chances showing up this week either despite the fact that October is usually a generous month when it comes to free water:
When will it start feeling like Fall again? Might have to wait. Around Oct.20th or so we expect a high pressure ridge over the eastern Pacific to expand into the Alaskan bay. This ridge will help spill cold air trapped far north in Canada into the Central Plains:
But it that is still 10-14 days away. The forecast for Columbus day on Monday looks like a forecast for Labor day. A cold front arrives later in the day but not soon enough, it will help knock the temps down until Tuesday however:
The extended shows how it heats right back up. And it stays dry, not good news in our current drought:
