DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – People who live along Singleton Boulevard near Loop 12 in West Dallas are under voluntary evacuation.

"I've never seen anything like this. I've been living in Texas for ten years and it's really scary because I mean I've seen rain, but never this high," said resident Esperanza Gomez.

Police are going door-to-door in Gomez's neighborhood warning about the possibility of flooding as more storms move across North Texas.

In fact, some roads are already flooded, making it impossible for residents to return home to collect their belongings.

"I am concerned. It could get inside my house and you know we have things in there. I don't want nothing to happen to my house or my family," said Gomez.

Her backyard is already overflowing with water.

"It's ruining everything. You feel bad when you see it because a lot of people worked for this and now it's all going to be destroyed," said Gomez.

Her community is surrounded by several creeks, which are already full after days of heavy downpours.

Police officers said flooded roads will impact their emergency response times; with several inches of rain changing everything drastically.

Despite the warning though, some longtime residents aren't concerned, choosing to stay home.

"No. I can learn to swim. No I don't get nervous," said Benita Villa, who has lived in the neighborhood for 50 years. "No! And leave my house? No!"
