Does this mark the beginning of Skynet?Boston Dynamics - the engineering and robotics design company firm owned by Google - has created a humanoid that is the first of its kind to stand back up on its own if it falls down.

The upgraded version of ATLAS is designed to operate outdoors and inside buildings.

It is specialized for mobile manipulation and is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated, according to Boston Dynamics.

ATLAS uses sensors in its body and legs to balance and LIDAR and stereo sensors in its head to avoid obstacles, assess the terrain, help with navigation and manipulate objects.

The new version of the Atlas robot is about 5' 9" tall and weighs 180 lbs.
