Video Posted To Facebook Shows Child Beating Dog

STEPHENVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - A disturbing video on Facebook shows a child beating a dog in Stephenville.

Now people want the dog rescued and the boy to receive counseling.

A woman who does not want to be identified said she recorded the video after seeing a boy and his sister next door, repeatedly hit a neighbor's dog.

"My thoughts were, that poor child has to have been through hell to be able to do that to an animal. He didn't just naturally do that, he had to learn it from somewhere."

Stephenville police are now involved.

They said the boy is under 10 years old, so even though he technically committed animal cruelty -- he won't face charges.

Police said the parents are not being charged, because they say they didn't realize it was happening.

The woman who posted the video said police have asked her to take it down. But she said she won't until the dog is somewhere safe, and the boy receives counseling.
