FORT WORTH (CBS11) - Connie Nahoolewa says she doesn't understand why someone would set fire to clothing and other items people donated to the Northside Inter Community Agency in Fort Worth.

"Your heart just sinks. That day, it just cast a pall upon all of us," said Nahoolewa.

She says the charity lost at least $1,500 in donated items in the fire.

A metal building once filled with donations now sits empty.

"I go inside and I smell it, and it brings back the emotions from that day," said Nahoolewa.

What's more shocking she says is that firefighters say the man accused of setting the fire brought a young boy with him.

Nahoolewa says that's upsetting because they do so much to help children.

"To think one would take a child and be a part of this and see the ugliness of life and be such a bad example, it cuts you to the core," said Nahoolewa.

The Fort Worth Fire Department publicized the surveillance video with the hope of finding the suspect.

The fire department says the man is driving a light-colored four door Chevy SUV, most likely a Trailblazer.

The charity has been at its location along Circle Park Blvd., north of downtown for 20 years.

"It's just like one person that can do so much damage to your feelings of compassion and wanting to help others," said Nahoolewa.

She says the agency provides tens of thousands of people in northwest Tarrant County each year with financial help, food, and clothing -- including a young boy who was teased for wearing his mother's tennis sneakers.

"His family was able to come and get him new stuff. He was being bullied because of that. How do you put a price tag on that? You're trying to do good."

What's not used at the Northside Inter Community Agency goes to help poor people in other countries.
