DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - What does DeAndre Jordan and Greg Hardy have in common? According to Jeff Van Gundy, a lot more than you think.

The former head coach ripped Mavericks' fans last night on ESPN's broadcast for booing Jordan, comparing it to the Greg Hardy situation.

"I would like the Dallas' fans to acknowledge the sheer lunacy and absurdity that they're booing DeAndre Jordan tonight, and they'll be cheering someone like Greg Hardy on Sunday."

For one thing, what does the Dallas Cowboys have to do with the Dallas Mavericks other than the fact that they are in the same city? How can you compare Greg Hardy's situation to DeAndre Jordan? That, Jeff Van Gundy, is lunacy and absurdity.

We all recognize Greg Hardy did something very wrong; no one is condoning it. But I can't fathom how you can attack the Mavericks' fans for booing a guy that held an entire franchise ransom with his word, that eventually meant nothing.

As you said on your broadcast last night, the guy changed his mind and he should have reached out to Cuban to tell him. Great. I'm glad you agree with that.

So the Mavericks' fans should understand that the guy changed his mind after all of the free agents were picked over, didn't bother to tell our owner face-to-face that he wasn't coming and took two days to apologize on twitter?

What Mavericks' fans appreciate is class. The legend, Dirk Nowitzki is nearing the end of a first ballot hall of fame career. All the fans want is to compete these last two or three years while he's here. Jordan messed with that when he decided to go back on his word so late in the process.

According to Van Gundy, Mavericks' fans can't boo Rajon Rondo or Dwayne Wade when they come to town, or else they'll be called hippocrates.

Good take, Jeff.
