WAXAHACHIE (KRLD) - After the explosion that destroyed one home in Waxahachie and damaged many others, one national official came to survey the wreckage.

US Congressman Joe Barton represents the 6th district of Texas, which includes Waxahachie. He came just in case the explosion was a federal issue.

"You know, as a federal congressman I was here in case we needed to get our top federal investigators on the scene," he says.

Barton says it appears the explosion is not a federal issue, though it certainly is abnormal.

"I have every confidence in the city of Waxahachie, the county and the state to get to the bottom of this."

As many as 10 surrounding homes on Arabian Drive suffered a degree of damage. For many, their roofs caved in from the force of the explosion. Barton says it could take weeks for those homes to be repaired.
