TxDOT Begins 'Click It Or Ticket' Push

AUSTIN (AP) - The Texas Department of Transportation has taken its "Click It or Ticket" seat belt enforcement effort on the road.
TxDOT events were planned this week in San Antonio, Laredo and Harlingen as part of the national effort to get travelers to buckle up or face getting tickets.
Law enforcement agencies across Texas are part of the enforcement push from May 23 through June 5 — including Memorial Day weekend.
Officials say nearly 2,400 vehicle crashes last year in Texas involving unrestrained travelers resulted in 889 fatalities.
Texas law requires everyone in a vehicle to buckle up or face fines and court costs of up to $200. Children younger than age 8 must be in a child safety seat or booster seat unless they are taller than 4 feet 9 inches.
