TWU Volleyball Players With Rare Condition Released From Hospital

DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Texas Women's University confirmed Saturday that the last remaining student-athlete in a local hospital was released Friday.
One of the student-athletes remains hospitalized in a hometown hospital, but should be released soon.
Eight TWU student-athletes were hospitalized last weekend for the medical treatment of symptoms related to rhabdomyolysis, which is a syndrome that causes a breakdown of muscle tissue and releases a damaging protein into the blood.
The student-athletes were part of the school's volleyball team.
Symptoms of rhabdomyolysis can include muscle pain or weakness, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, fever and a rapid heart rate.
