Substitute teacher, boyfriend charged in Midlothian child sexual assault investigation, police say

Midlothian police investigate child sex assault allegations

Midlothian police have arrested two people in connection with an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a child.

Substitute teacher charged

According to the Midlothian Police Department, patrol officers were called on Wednesday, Dec. 17, to investigate a report of a possible sexual assault involving a child. The initial investigation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Madison Jones, a substitute teacher, who has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, along with several additional related offenses, police said.

According to the Midlothian Independent School District, Jones worked as a substitute teacher in the district four times during the past 12 months, including at Heritage High School on Nov. 19 and Baxter Elementary School on Oct. 28, Oct. 29 and Nov. 3.

The district said at this time there is no indication that the charges are related to Jones' time as a substitute teacher, or that anything occurred at a Midlothian ISD campus or activity.

"Our district process for monitoring employee criminal history functioned as intended, and we were notified quickly by the DPS," Midlothian ISD said in a statement. "The substitute teacher is no longer employed by MISD and the district followed its required reporting procedures with the Texas Education Agency."

Midlothian police said there is no connection between Jones' job as a substitute teacher and this case.

Second suspect arrested in West Texas

Detectives with the department's Criminal Investigation Division continued working the case and later identified a second suspect, 37-year-old Zackery Dondlinger of Happy, Texas.

Police arrested Dondlinger on Tuesday in Loving County. He is charged with sexual performance by a child and is being held at the Winkler County Detention Center.

Midlothian police said Jones and Dondlinger had a dating relationship.

Police thanked the Ellis County Children's Advocacy Center, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Office of the Attorney General's Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the Loving County Sheriff's Office for assisting in the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact Midlothian Police Detective Dawson Frazer at 469-672-0056.
