Truck Fire Closes Central Expressway In Dallas

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A truck fire shut down the northbound lanes of Central Expressway in Dallas just before rush hour got started on Wednesday morning. The incident was first reported at around 4:30 a.m. along the highway near Coit Road.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded, extinguished the flames, and has since left the scene. However, work crews are still blocking some of the northbound lanes as they continue to pick up the mess which was left behind. The fire resulted in a fuel spill. That must be cleaned entirely before the whole highway is opened again.

Central Expressway is one of the busiest highway areas in the Metroplex, and morning rush hour is one of the busiest times for traffic to move through these lanes. So, needless to say, the closure resulted in some terrible backups along Dallas area roads. Check out our traffic maps for alternate routes.
