Trove Of Baseball Memorabilia, Photographs Going To Auction

NEW YORK (AP) - A trove of baseball artifacts including a "Shoeless" Joe Jackson game bat and material from the Negro Leagues is going on the auction block in New York.
Christie's is holding the sale of nearly 500 objects on Oct. 19 and 20.
The material comes from the National Pastime Museum. That's an online museum showcasing a private collection of baseball photographs and memorabilia.
Among the highlights is Shoeless Joe's "Black Betsy" bat. It's one of only two known to survive from his career, and the only one with his full signature in script, according to Christie's. It's signed on the barrel and has the scars of game use, including ball and cleat marks. It has a pre-sale estimate of $500,000 to $700,000.
The total value of the auction items could top $5 million.
