MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - Downtown Mesquite is going to be a lot quieter.

As of Saturday, the area is now a "quiet zone."

Trains with Union Pacific and Amtrak do not have to sound safety horns except in emergencies.

The city has installed additional signs at the five crossings to let drivers and pedestrians know they will no longer hear train horns regularly.
