DALLAS (CBSDFW) - Police aren't calling it a chase, but a driver who didn't pull over was killed when he ran into the back of a truck near downtown Dallas today.

According to officials, a Lewisville police officer was headed to Dallas Wednesday morning to pick up a prisoner when he noticed a car driving erratically on southbound I-35E. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle after nearly being stuck, but the driver refused.

Captain Dan Rochelle of the Lewisville Police Department says the unidentified driver eventually slammed into the back of a semi right near the Woodall Rodgers overpass. That driver was killed.

Police say while the driver was all over the road they don't know if he was under the influence of anything, or this could have been a medical issue like diabetic shock. That will all be sorted out by the Medical Examiner.

Police have shut down part of I-35 E at Woodall Rodgers while this wreck is investigated by the Dallas County Sheriff's office.
