IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - An EF-1 tornado touched down in Irving early Sunday morning causing spotty damage in a roughly mile radius area near MacArthur Blvd and Walnut Hill Ln.
"It sounded like a freight train right outside my door," said Gary Baxter.
At his Las Colinas apartment complex, the twister took down several large trees damaging the vehicles they fell on.
Multiple car ports along with large columns at the entryway of the clubhouse collapsed at the Villas at Beaver Creek apartment complex.
However, the MacArthur Center, a business office park, appeared to have taken the brunt of the tornado.
Two of the large office towers were damaged as the tornado shattered windows and pulled the metal off the buildings' entryway ceiling.
Crews were out for much of the day cutting down damaged trees and boarding up windows.
Likely due to 2:34am arrival of the tornado when most were asleep, no injuries were reported.
