FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - We are looking back 25 years ago at the top 10 songs in America for 1990, as determined by Billboard Magazine.

News events around the U.S. and abroad were big. The Soviet Union dissolved as it had been known since 1917. The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Denver Broncos 55-10 in Super Bowl XXIV. And the Hubble Space Telescope is launched into outer space.

Below are the top 10 most popular songs in the nation for the year 1990:

10. "Blaze of Glory" (Jon Bon Jovi)

9. "Cradle of Love" (Billy Idol)

8. "Hold On" (En Vogue)

7. "Another Day in Paradise" (Phil Collins)

6. "Vision of Love" (Mariah Carey)

5. "Vogue" (Madonna)

4. "Poison" (Bell Biv DeVoe)

3. "Nothing Compare 2 U" (Sinead O'Connor)

2. "It Must Have Been Love" (Roxette)

And the #1 hit for 1990 was "Hold On" by the vocal group Wilson Phillips whose members' parents were famous rock and roll singers/songwriters from the 1960's. Carnie and Wendy Wilson were the daughters of The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson. Chynna Phillips was the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas. The group had three #1 hits on the Billboard, including "Hold On," followed by "Release Me," and "You're In Love." Carnie later had her own TV talk show in 1995 and the girls acted in the movie "Caddyshack II."

But there was another group whose father was a famous singer and actor on the ABC Television Network during the 1950s and '60s. Calling themselves by their last name of Nelson, the twin sons of Ricky Nelson, Gunnar and Matthew, had a number one hit right out of the gate in the summer of 1990 called, "Can't Live Without Your Love and Affection." They only charted four times on Billboard charts but started off with a bang! Check out that video at the top of the page.
