Texas Trucking Association Wants Lower Speeds On Texas Highways

Big rigs flying down the highway. It's a common sight in Texas. But the Texas Trucking Association thinks the current speed limits are too high - especially in urban areas.

In North Texas speed limits were recently increased to 70 mph on some stretches of I-20 and Spur 408.

John Esparza, president of the TTA, says those higher limits are not always a good thing. In fact, he is in favor of lowering speed limits.

Esparza says one step which could improve safety is, states taking a more uniform approach to their speed limits.

Do you support lowering speeds for 18-wheelers? Call the KRLD Sound-Off Line, driven by Southwest KIA.com, at 214.525.7442.
