The founder of Alamo Drafthouse tweeted this message shortly before 11 am:
Breaking news: Sony has authorized screenings of THE INTERVIEW on Christmas Day. We are making shows available within the hour. #Victory

Over the past few days, Tim League has lead petition campaign to encourage Sony to release the movie as scheduled to theaters.
The petition reads in part, "We understand there are risks involved in screening THE INTERVIEW. We will communicate these risks as clearly as we can to our employees and customers and allow them to make their own decisions, as is the right of every American. Understanding those risks, the undersigned, independent cinema owners and operators of America under the banner of the Art House Convergence, do hereby agree to support Sony and to support theatrical engagements of THE INTERVIEW should Sony, at its sole discretion, decide to release it to theaters."

Showtimes for Christmas Day showed up on the website shortly after League's tweet. The movie will be shown at 2:20 pm, 7;55 pm, 10:15 pm, 11:55 pm. The Associated Press reported that an Atlanta theater also received permission to show the film.
Sony pulled the plug on the movie last week after threats from a hacker group prompted major theater chains across the country to say they would not show it. President Obama and others said Sony's decision to pull the movie was the wrong one.
Venetian Cinemas General Manager Harold Johnson announced Tuesday that they will also be showing the controversial movie "The Interview" on Christmas Day, with its first show time at 3:45pm.
The Venetian Cinemas General Manager said that "the public wanted to see the movie and when given the option, we took it."
Harold Johnson added that "We've had numerous calls and e-mails requesting "The Interview" and we want to give our clientele what they want."
Look Cinemas in Dallas also will be showing the Interview on Christmas day.
Look Cinemas twitter account made the announcement late Tuesday.
Actors Seth Rogen and James Franco, who appear in the film, had this to say on social media about the film's release:
The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn't give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!
