COPPELL (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Retail gasoline prices in Texas are up 4 cents this week to top the $2 per gallon mark for the first time since mid-November.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the statewide average price at the pump reached $2.03 per gallon. Nationwide gasoline prices rose 3 cents to an average $2.23 per gallon.

The association survey found San Antonio has the cheapest gasoline in Texas at $1.95 per gallon. Drivers in Dallas have the state's highest gasoline price at $2.07 per gallon.

"Texans are now paying about $28 to fill up the typical 14-gallon size fuel tank which is about $3 more per fill-up than last year," said AAA spokesperson Doug Shupe.

Retail prices have risen since the November 30 OPEC oil production agreement to cut output by 1.2 million barrels per day beginning January 2017.

AAA officials predict more than 8.2 million Texans will travel during the year-end holidays — slightly more than last year. The holiday travel period begins December 23 and runs through January 2.
