COPPELL (AP) - Texas retail gasoline prices held steady this week at an average $1.53 per gallon.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the nationwide price at the pump rose 2 cents this week to reach $1.72 per gallon.

Amarillo has the cheapest gasoline in Texas this week at an average $1.41 per gallon. The association survey found that drivers in Dallas face the highest retail gas prices at an average $1.58 per gallon.

AAA officials say refinery production typically begins to drop during this time of year as many units prepare for seasonal maintenance in advance of summer. Gasoline inventories remain high amid recent drops in crude oil prices.
