Texas National Guard Pilots Compete In Helicopter Shooting Competition

MARANA, Ariz. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Arizona is hosting a helicopter shooting competition this week involving National Guard pilots from Texas and six other states.

The main event in the Gunfighter Fly-in competition is Wednesday . Teams will compete against each other in flying and target-shooting exercises from their AH-64D Apache attack helicopters.

Competing states are Texas, Idaho, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah and Arizona. The Arizona National Guard is hosting the first-ever event at the Silverbell Army Heliport in Marana.

In addition to the competition, the teams will exchange ideas about their tactics and procedures.
