There may be help on the way for tens of thousands of disabled Texas children on the verge of losing much needed therapy to budget cuts.

State House Speaker Joe Straus told the Texas Tribune lawmakers will work to make sure the programs aren't cut.

"It means that maybe we made a mistake, but I don't think it was ill-intentioned," Straus said. "It was not an initiative of the Texas house, and I think you'll see us address it."

Straus's announcement comes after the State Health and Human Services Department announced the Medicaid budget rate cuts would take effect on December 15th.
