COPPELL (AP) — Texas and nationwide retail gasoline prices are up this week.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the statewide average rose 3 cents to reach $1.97 per gallon. The U.S. average increased 2 cents to hit $2.21 per gallon.

Drivers in Beaumont and Houston have the cheapest gasoline in Texas at an average $1.93 per gallon. Austin and San Marcos recorded the highest average price at the pump statewide at $2 per gallon.

Association officials say the Midwest has had increased refinery maintenance in recent weeks due to heavier than normal production during the summer months.
